What are you reading?

I always keep a copy of my current book on my phone in case I get separated from my Kindle , ideal carrying one device . I would never go out without my phone !!

Just finished Pullman’s Book of Dust series and John Boyne’s The Heart’s Invisible Furies, but I’m falling behind in my reading - I have a lot of catching up to do

I did read this 10 book series straight

It would be for me impossible to follow it otherwise. Even so, I didn’t get half of it. There’s this part of the narrative that was just “what on Earth is going on” until the very last book. But it was a painful read at times. At least the guy did finish his story
 :grimacing:

At least you finished it. I had all Steven Kings rambling Dark Tower opus, and had to stop midway through the nonsense of the last volume.

In his case, the lack of drugs are a hell of a thing

Has anyone watched the first Scarpetta series on Prime, it is skipping from book1 to current and back again , spoiling reading if you are in the wrong place in the series . Like dead characters coming back to life . TV Series from book series often don’t work

I as so excited NOW

Daily reading

I watched the first episode yesterday, having read the first 10 books on hardback back when they came out.

It really threw me having it jumping back and forth like it did, but I will watch some more and see how it develops

I watched episode 2 last night it doesn’t improve much !!

I switched back to Cross which as another 20+ book series seems a lot closer to the story line. It’s a long tome since I read book 1

It doesn’t feel like there’s much hope for the series, but I will certainly try a couple more episodes (currently only 1 episode watched)

Yes I also read the first x volumes of Cross and also enjoyed them (though the earliest ones were quite sick) and then they went off the rails. The TV series is strong for that, I really enjoyed series 1 and I am currently enjoying series 2 on my own, as the wife has bad memories of reading the first couple of books.

Not sure if you have read any Andrew Mayne books, but you might enjoy his Theo Cray series (The Naturalist series) and it’s following books which become more interlocking in story line and character’s. Nice easy and enjoyable reading for me these days.

I’ll try No 1 when I have finished current Scarpetta

I have never forgiven him for that last chapter.

There was even a plan for revenge. A DETAILED revenge plan.

Finished the ordeal of “Zones of Thought” today. Don’t recommend it at all, don’t do it to yourself kids

Also finished watching the 6 seasons of Peaky Blinders as apparently I had only watched 3 of them. Didn’t enjoy the last ones but now I can watch the movie knowing what on earth is going on.

Now reading:

Yet hard to say what I find about it

I have also just started reading Alchemised, I don’t often find books instantly compelling but this one had me hooked within the first couple of pages.

Meades has more than a whiff of Swift about him. It’s not a feelgood book :slightly_smiling_face:
