I do almost the same: Matrix X-SABRE 3 into AHB2 into TektonDesigns Double Impacts. Just about perfect. I’m also voice controlling basic functions using Apple Siri via Roon Command Line project. I mention this because absolute volume control is flawed with the X-SABRE 3 and I use a relative volume control instead. I filed a bug with the Roon Command Line folks but I’m not concerned as long as I have a work-around!
I would avoid Lumin myself given their rep’s tendency to get rhapsodic about burn in on streamers…
Hi, I have also a G2.1 with Mc DA2 using USB. I cannot get anything more than DSD64. Higher rates gives pink noise. What was your experience ? Or anybody else’s ?
I have something of a lopsided endpoint feeding into my Naim Nait 50 / LS50 META main system.
The streamer is my Innuos Zen Mini Mk3 connected via USB to the ridiculously low priced SMSL SU1. This little DAC is capable of 768/32, DSD512 and native MQA yet it costs under $100. For the money/performance ratio is one of my favourite pieces of kit.
It sounds clean and fast.
Hi
Actually its a Raspberry PI in a box.
Its very stable but the software is not the best.
I am connecting through ethernet for Roon(spotify is also available)and connecting through the dedicated dac usb sicket to my Kalliope dac which worked perfect.
As a different usage I also used it with my Hugo2 for headphones which also worked without issue.
I had an sbooster PS for my Roon Nucleus, which by coincidence has the same voltage meeting the MX streamer. This I can say was a great leap in sound performance for the streamer and not the Nucleus.
I’ve been using the Zen Stream for almost 2 years and like it very much. I’m aware that many people complain about this device but I never had any trouble with it (especially in Roon Mode). I’m now using it with the Zen Dac v2 as a Head-fi system (with H600). On my main speaker system I use the integrated streamer of the Hegel H120 (Roon Ready), which works really well. I can’t find a real difference between the internal streamer and the Zen Stream (used with the H120 and as a Roon bridge). Both sound excellent to my ears, in my set up. Cheers
