My system is running 1 day and 27 minutes with newest versions
And it is now beginning to have delays - for example to show all albums of a specific group takes normally 1-2 seconds - now it is 5-10 seconds
So strange how different courses there are for this behaviour. I have just about 3650 albums and 68000 tracks. I get the feeling that in my case it has to do with unidentified Boxstes. Every day I notice my NUC’s fan going wild for half an hour and from that moment on everything almost freezes to death. After that it returns to the idle state. After the update at least loading and playing files has improved but the problem with the dayly “stress” remained.
I removed two Classical Boxsets with about 50 CD’s each and from that moment on it’s just a few minutes of that same behaviour, but not as dramatic. It slows down but at least is “workable”. It seems as if Roon can’t handle unidentified Boxsets and keeps searching for information.
I have finished going through the library of just over 30,000 classical albums and now have each one with a star rating. [Of interest, about 20% got a level 4 rating from me]. There have been moments of frustration when, apparently out of the blue, loading an album suddenly takes ages.
As others have said, the only “cure” for slow Roon response is to reboot the program, sometimes even a PC reboot. There well might be a multitude of factors involved although what they are seems a mystery to us all. Roon is supposed to be able to check if a file is corrupt but maybe a few with non serious glitches slip through and can be troublesome?
Anyway this thread certaily lets the developers know how many of us feel. It doesn’t inspire a rant of rage from me or any other user on this thread but that should not be be interpreted as all of us being happy campers. That said listening to music via Roon is miles (or should I say KM?) ahead of handling the shiny disks and the black 12" vinyl monsters. And one of the beauties of hard drive listening is to be able to mix up albums so one does not have to sit through an hour of harpsichord or flute or …
So I enjoyed it for a day,. Yesterday it was all wrong again. I played one song - one itsy bitsy tiny little song and Roon became - as Enno pointed out - “Rock Solid”. No matter what you tabbed on your Tablet or any other device, you just could wait 5 minutes or so for the first sign of ilfe, while my poor NUC7I7 tried to act as a helicopter, spinnig its tiny van for about an hour to get itself cool again for doing god knows what it was doing.
There are indeed so many possible factors that one might ask himself whether it would not be a bad idea to strip this whole thing down and start from scrach.
Or at least jump backwards a few releases.

One of the more interesting aspects of Roon is how many people have such different experiences. There are people here who have run Roon non-stop for more than a year with zero problems. There are people who have problems that simply can’t be solved. I’m in the middle. Roon is generally very reliable for me, but occasionally it will glitch out. At that point a server restart always seems to fix things up. I have no way to know what caused the glitch and Roon may or may not be able to help in most cases. It’s all very complicated.
any news or tricks for repairing a slow roon which was fine with same size of bibliothek and network
