When I play music via Roon on Win 10 in Wasapi Exclusive mode, does that mean that the music is not going through the Windows sound card at all?

Is there any other way to use Roon, to achieve an even better sound quality, on Windows 10?

Hi Adam, I think you need to give us some more information than that. What device are you choosing as the playback device? Better yet, post screen shots of the signal path and Roon’s Settings Audio page.

ASIO I think but then you’ll need special drivers I believe. I’ve always used WASAPI back when I was using Windows.

With exclusive mode other software can’t access the sound card while Roon is playing.

My Mojo 2 is the playback device.

Mojo recommends Wasapi Exclusive…

Well, I would try the following.

  1. Activate ASIO Chord device and give it a name like “ASIO-Chord”. And then use that instead of Wasapi. I personally prefer ASIO to WASAPI, but, everyone is different. If you don’t like it you can always disable it.

  2. Turn off all the DSP you have going. Then try adding it back one thing at a time.

You don’t specify, but, I assume the mojo 2 is going to headphones.

Whether you use ASIO or WASAPI exclusive, Roon has complete control over the sound settings, so there is no additional processing done by the system’s audio stack. As long as they work properly, there should be no difference in SQ.

Yes, It’s going to Headphones.
