Where are my iPhone and iPad?

Since a couple of weeks I noticed that I have no iPad or iPhone as player anymore. Quite annoying because I also like to listen directly from my phone or iPad with a headphone. I use arc in the car but would like to use the normal Roon-app indoors.

The picture shows the audio devices but no iPhone or ipad is shown on those devices.

By default, phones and tablets are not shown as zones on other devices. This is to prevent accidentally blasting music to someone’s phone. By default you can choose the phone as output only directly on the phone.

You need to go to Settings > Audio > Device Setup on the phone/tablet and turn off Private Zone. Then they will show up everywhere.

They don’t even show up as a device at all, that’s my problem.
I know iPhone only shows up on iPhone and for iPad the same. But now I have only my speakers and streamers, no iPhone or iPad.

Phone and iPad are both still running on ios18.7.1

Huh, I missed that those screenshots were from the iPad.

Maybe if you turn off the airplane mode? I see the WiFi is on anyway, but who knows.

I had this problem after the update a few weeks ago that made lots of user’s devices disappear. If I remember correctly, a restart of Roon Server solved the problem for me.

Turning off airplane mode made no difference. Also a reboot didn’t do anything.

I’m on ios18.7.1

If rebooting server and the iPad/iPhone doesn’t help, then it’s time for opening a ticket in Support

Perhaps uninstalling then reinstalling (from the App Store) the Roon app on the iPad and iPhone would fix it. :crossed_fingers: This has worked for me in the past.

Found it!

It’s a vlan thing. Roon-server and players are on a separate vlan than the iPad and iPhones.

Now for a solution…..

iPad and iPhone are on vlan 1 and can communicate freely with anything
Roon-stuff is on vlan 2 and is an iot lan
It’s a Unifi network

Allowing the Roonserver to bypass the firewall to specific devices is not an option I think, that would be a safety breach.

Any suggestions??

All Roon devices must be on the same subnet and vlan

Only workaround so far I found is switch my phone or tablet to the IoT-vlan. Ot ideal but it works
