Yes I too would like this separated into 1x and Nx filter changes in HQPClient. The fundamental problem is that once you touch the current filter in the client, the only way to go back to separate filters for 1x and Nx is by opening HQP Desktop preferences, which in my case is a headless server that I have to remote into.
And/or a ‘reset’ button that would take one back to all of baseline settings saved in HQPDesktop would be nice.
hi guys
set up a budget stack in the office with a Schiit Modius and Magnius.
can anyone tell me what to set for dac bits in hqplayer? or just leave it at default?
thanks!
The most rapid method for switching filters (or anything) in HQP for me is to have Roon output to Virtual Audio Cable, and have HQP use VAC as the input. This way the Roon stream just continues and you don’t have to bother stopping playback.
Then I use HQPControl with batch files to switch any number of elements and restart playback. It takes a double-click and a second or so to switch, and the audio stream is not interrupted.
Create a set of batch files for your test cases and off you go.
I am hoping someone can help explain what I am hearing so I may describe it better going forward.
I’ve been listening using the poly-sinc-short-lp-2s filter. After a few hours I get a ringing in my ears.
I’ve since switched to poly-sinc-short-mp-2s and this ringing does not occur.
All volumes, hardware path etc being identical.
What are my ears ringing about?
Hi, I’m interested as well. Some filters sound great but after a period of time, I get ringing too. For me it was poly-sinc-mp and its short version, sounded good but rang my ears after awhile.
poly-sinc-gauss family doesn’t bother my ears at all.
Wikipedia is (often) your friend: Nyquist frequency - Wikipedia. Basically, you want to use a filter that suppresses aliasing (see figure on that page) very aggressively.
