Which HQP Filter are you using? [2023]

It’s not a problem for me as I wanted to try to see if it worked… I use poly-gauss filters myself

So many details arise on the music :notes:

Is amazing to see the details of the music that are always there and by using HQplayer, we can unmask into this hidden layers! really good

What my new upgrade i713000 can do @ffk

Still not EC on DSD1024, but I got DSD512 ECv2 with Sinc-M stable

Hello @jussi_laako I have been using HQplayer with the ASDM7ECv2 modulator and my machine only allows the upsampler for DSD up to 128, at 256 it has audio crashes.

It turns out that I noticed higher CPU usage with the multicore box activated (around 50%) compared to the grayed box (around 30%), my question is, should I leave the box checked or grayed out?

It depends on which one performs better for you. Usually for lower core count machines, leaving it greyed works better.

I’ll try to see if there’s a difference in sound with the 2 modes, thanks.

yours is different “512 + fs”, @Moy

@Rugby speaks about the one with EC!

AMSDM7 512+fs Special adaptive seventh order “pseudo-multi-bit” modulator optimized for rates ≥ 20 MHz vs AMSDM7EC 512+fs Special adaptive seventh order “pseudo-multi-bit” modulator with extended compensation optimized for rates ≥ 20 MHz

In your case @Moy, I wonder if this is really the modulator or the sound of ext3@1024x48 you like !

I’m personally convinced ASDM7ECv2 is a king for HQP + HoloAudio products… I’ve been checking out ASDM5ECv2 especially on “rich” classics, but eventually keep coming back to 7ECv2, it has more substance, imho.

Although, I clearly remember when I was limited by hardware at ASDM7ECv2@256, indeed I would time to time switch to AMSDM7 512+fs @ 512 with “-2s” filters for the lightness and airy sensations, but yet would eventually always drop back to 7ECv2 @ 256

I’m exploring the DSD1024 territory

Agreed 7ECv2 is king :prince:!

I’m looking into ext3 on higher rates, but this shaper is the best I can achieve at DSD1024

Talking about poly-sinc-ext3… I have not been with this filter for ages, honestly. Got stuck with prog at short-mp which is unbeatable, but…

This! Just knocked me off my chair. I think this record and poly-sinc-ext3 with 7ECv2 is a marriage made in heaven, oh my god!!!

I agree with you!

I have gone back and forth between Sinc-L/Ll (@16-32 million taps) and EXT3 for very different reasons, depending on what I am listening to (and still enjoy both very much). The former gives me a denser, fuller, velvety sound and a more relaxed “musical” experience, while the latter is clearer, more detailed, coherent and full-spectrum (more “analytical” without being harsh). This is in conjunction with 7ECv2 @512. (I wish my Gustard A26 could do DSD1024!)

I keep coming back to these settings:

I like your settings, but why -4dB instead of just -3dB? I have always thought -3dB was sufficient.

Oh, that is an artifact from when I regularly played my rip of the Sony “Thriller” SACD. That Sony SACD exceeded SACD published specs and needed an extra dB reduction to not exceed limits. Now I play the MFSL SACD rip instead. But, I am used to that setting now…so I keep it there.

No, max DSD512.
and on the streamer side, ethernet is limited to 100mb.

So we’ll all want to know a little more about the new modulators (v3 and super) and about the new Gaussian flavours of the Sinc-M filters, right?
