Who has a turntable in their setup?

Nice; i have a zephyr III and an otello. Always wanted to hear the Boheme and Aida.

I have a Rega rp6 and probably play 50/50 records and Roon. I have all my records added to Roon though;) I use a tag to separate them from digital album.

i wish the current iteration of the Planar 6 came it white and red too.

Is it only black now? Mine is about 5 years old.

Yes, P2 & P3 are available in red/white, but P6 is black only.

How is this done?
Can you take an input from Discogs?

A like for the photo, Hannu. Nice work.

I’m just adding the albums from Tidal and then using a Vinyl tag that I created. Don’t know there is a Discogs input?? That would be good.

Love some of the stuff people have!

No turntable, now. I had a full spec Linn Klimax LP12, but traded it in against upgrade of Exaktboxes last year.

I had previously digitised all my vinyl records so I can still listen to them.

The only drawback is I can’t buy vinyl any more. That is a disadvantage because often the vinyl versions of new and old albums sounded better than digital.

The advantages are I save a lot of money on expensive vinyl and am spared frustration with those new and second hand LPs in poor condition. Plus I got a big upgrade in the Exaktboxes improving SQ.

Out of interest, what are you going to do with all your records now?

(hint hint recently unemployed vinyl lover)

Chris, it is all boxed up in a big cupboard just behind where I am sitting now.

I did consider disposing of it, but thought I’d better keep it like ripped CDs to keep me legal. I am still listening to digital copies of it.

Since the P8 is relatively new, I’m assuming you upgraded from another table and cart. I’m particularly curious about the Ania- how do you like it, and compared to whatever you had previously?

I used to have Linn’s Basic with Akito arm and Sumiko’s Talisman Alchemist cartridge if I recall right, but this was some decades ago. It’s bit hard to compare with something I haven’t heard in 20+ years.

Can’t really say much about Ania, together they sound soulful, characteristic and lively - pretty much exactly what I was looking for. I had a change to listen new P10 and Apetha3 on it and in comparison I’d would still keep P8, it’s of course better in many ways but it also turns more into neutral direction and perhaps loses some of character P8 has.

RIAA I’m using is Rega’s Fono MC

Comparing to Clearaudio’s bit more expensive player P8 sounds more musical and open whereas CA sounds like it’s holding back and not letting music flow as it should.

It sounds like a lot of Roon users still have turntables. Roon, maybe it’s time to introduce the long awaited input device option!

In the meantime, for all of you who use a turntable, if you’re techie you can integrate your TT into Roon.

I’ve gotten rid of my phono preamp. I just have a step up transformer hooked to my ADC/DAC (96kHz 24bit). The signal goes to my server via USB. Then BUTT (poorly named software) transforms the signal to FLAC and streams it to ICE broadcast (which creates your very own internet radio broadcast). Roon tunes in to the fake internet station thus created. I then use DSP to amplify and implement RIAA correction.

All pretty convoluted, but it works great. I can use Roon to adjust the volume and I’ve eliminated the 60hz buzz my phono preamp had.

A Roon device input option would be much better.

Which clearaudio?

Over the past 6 years I’ve had an RP1, with upgrade pack, a VPI Traveller, an Avid Diva II SP, and a Rega P3. Carts have included Soundsmith Carmen, Otello, Zephyr III, Dynavector 20x2H, Rega Exact 2, and Denon DL 110.

The combination that’s brought me the most pleasure has been the P3/DL 110. It’s not the best, but it’s certainly the most soulful, as you say.
