my maths say around 16 ft per 1000 = 80 ft of vinyl
Not to mention the weigh
did you ever see the pics of Jon Peel’s record collection 120k vinyls
I like my SSD

Yeah, closer to 90 linear feet of Ikea shelving, spread across two rooms.
This is the rear of my listening room. The other set of shelves is a 4x4 Ikea Kallax in my home office down the hallway.
Mine were an unfortunate casualty of emigrating , we didn’t have enough room in the container.
It was “when did you last…” wear, listen read. We cleared a lot of clutter ![]()
I’d already started to move to CD anyway. I don’t really miss the “ceremony” of vinyl, I am now totally media less . No books, no CD’s , no DVD’s (except my prized James Bond set) alas no DVD player !!
Got a similar amount, was advised to make sure my shelves went across the floor joists because of the weight.![]()
Been buying for decades and not slowed down yet ![]()
what does 100 LP’s weigh , I have no idea
EDIT
Dr Google suggests 21 to 25 KG so @Dean_Wette is more than a tonne of plastic and cardboard ![]()
My house is nearly 100 years old and is a very solid two-story brick. All my shelves are lined up against plaster-on-lathe walls. The ones in my photo above have stood there, fully laden, for a decade now. I’ve had no issues with it all.
Sometimes I hate vinyl….rofl.
Just wasted an hour on cartridge setup as was hearing bad sibilance on Fugazi by Marillion but couldn’t cure it at all.
Thinking stylus worn out so getting depressed.
Then did what I should have done an hour ago, put a different record on!
Sibilance nowhere in sight(or earshot) on Talk to your Daughter by Robben Ford!
Grrrrr.
Damn your Scottisssssh a$$ Fish!!

Now, back on track:
Gold Note Mediterraneo with an Audio Technica AT-OC9XML
My first time with the Gold Note tt at home, and while i think it’s beautiful i do have some minor quibbles regarding the tone arm, mainly.
It is a warm and a bit euphonic listen, but also very beguiling and inviting. Could easily live with a similar spinner!
I’m looking at trying a Goldnote Donatello Gold cartridge.
Any experience?
Not with that one in particular, but have mounted a couple of others, like the Giotto and Tuscany. The Giotto as an example was a difficult fit, as it has bit far “reach” between the 1/2" mount and diamond tip, if you get what i mean? I had to seek out a far different headshell, to aquire the overhang needed.
Once in place, they sound fine, and maintain the Gold Note signature sound, more musical than detailed if you don’t mind me generalizing a bit. ![]()
I understand the fitment issue as I read a review saying something similar.
And the present Benz Ruby 3 has the same issue in reverse, it’s right at the rear of the slots of my Graham arm with maybe 0.5mm to spare!
I could like musical and pass on some details at times, yes I understand the generalization there.
Musical gets the toes tapping!
I thought I recognized some of this. Symphonic works must sound wonderful on this rig.
That’s the motivation for building it up like I have. I played Mahler 3 last night.
Nice!
Did you do other measurements other the one posted?
Yes, and it is pretty stable when in a calibrated horisontal position and the temperature is not so far from 20° C. I’ll admit to taking a few measurements, and selecting a good one for “showing off”! ![]()
That said, i have seen even better figures later on!
It’s perfomance is on par with the very best player i have, which is the AMG Viella 12.
The Technics SL-1300G is (and it’s cousin, the SL-1210GR2) is also very near in absolute figures.
Both the AMG and the Luxman does see the need to adjust the rpm’s though, depending on running time, room temp etc. I usuall check every week or so, due to the AMG always spinning! ![]()
The slight drift is not seen on the Technics of course, with their quartz controlled motors. The nature of the Lux and AMG as belt drives with DC motors likely sets the rules here.
Upgraded the analog part from my Roon setup. Went from a Audio Analoque phono to a Grimm PW1. Very happy with it.
Hello Daniel, I hope everything arrived safely in Thailand. Smile
Have fun with the wonderfully sounding VPI Aries 3. A truly beautiful turntable and sounds fantastic as well.
Greetings from Switzerland
Hi Remo
Yes, everything arrived in perfect condition and is now set up. I’m currently refurbishing my Audio Note speakers; they had a bit of an ‘accident’ in Switzerland and, unfortunately, the veneer has taken a bit of a knock.
