Why Can't I See My Smart TV in Roon?

Geoff
Fantastic post with easy to understand information, nicely done.
A quick question without hopefully hijacking the thread!
I am perplexed why I do not see my smart tvs in my audio list?
I mean not even in settings-audio to enable, just not there.
I see both of them in bubbleupnp as play to renderers ( their term for output zones) and have tested same.
All are on same network as Roon( only one network in the house)
What might I be missing here?

The TV will need some sort of Roon compatibility, Chromecast or the like.

My Samsung TVs are only DLNA so don’t show.

One of them has a Chromecast puck in the back, but it’s the Chromecast that shows not the underlying TV. Once I connect I see Roon Display in all its glory and sound through the Soundbar via ARC

Also the TV needs to be on ? (Silly comment)

Kevin - I believe the Sony Bravia TVs have Airplay support. If so, that would explain why the Sony is listed in the Audio devices found by Roon.

UPnP/DLNA is not supported by Roon.

All recent Sony TVs are Android based and have Chromecast built in. Mine does and shows up not that I really use it for anything. However Chromecasts are very picky with Roon if IGMP is active I have found. It tends to not find them, when all other apps and systems can.

Now I understand why my older Samsung TV,s do not show up in Roon but do under Bubbleupnp.
Neither have any form of Chromecast built in.
Not a problem at all but was more of a curious “why not” nature.

Life is good! And many thanks to those who did reply!
