Why do so many of my albums don't get attributed a genre (and subgenre) (screenshot attached)

Content you’re reporting an issue with

I have a lot of albums (almost 10%) that don’t get a genre (and subgenre) attached, while I would think that it’s pretty straight forward that they would get one. See screenshot for some of the many examples. This makes ROON challenging for me. I do have some genre tagging in there from the past, but I prefer ROON to handle this. In Library - Import Settings, everything is set on “Prefer Roon”, except for artwork, where it is 'Prefer Best".

What can I do to change this? Should I let Picard deliver some genres prior to moving these album to the library and also activate genres from file tags? Any setting? What else can I do? It’s not manageable long term to manually Edit 10% of my collection. And having ROON take (part) of the genres from file tags seems to diminish what I want ROON to do actually, not?

Second question if I may; how do I avoid that “compilations” don’t get a genre. Just one example: I have “Bartok Orchestral Works”. This was flagged as compilation without a genre, while basically it’s pretty clear this is at least main genre Classical, and imho also subgenre, Orchestral, no? The album was identified.

Have you made any edits to this content in Roon?

I did try to re-identify some albums. Sometimes and sometimes not, this did result in them getting a genre attributed.

Is the album identified in Roon?

Both cases exist, albums that were identified that don’t get a genre, and albums that did not get identified. The albums that did not get identified, I am however able to identify with Picard through MB acoustic ID.

Is this content from local files, TIDAL, or Qobuz?
