Just for anyone interested in cpu performance.
LMS running
LMS stopped. Roon running.
Apologies. Post above is me (wife’s account)
@Bruss was Roon playing (to one or more zones) at the time or just sitting pretty? That is quite a spike in CPU utilization.
On my sonicTransporter i7, while there are occasional brief spikes for a second or two, the CPU stays under 10% (usually from 1% to 6%, but mostly close to the former) if I don’t have DSP engaged. This is while playing a 96/24 Qobuz album to 1 zone.
Both tested playing the same 16/44 file to the same device. One at a time. The surprising thing is the max peaks. It implies that Roon is resource intensive. If it then hits a comms delay with a recalcitrant end point (Auralic) there could be a processing delay introduced. I’m wondering if a faster cpu could solve the problem and enlarge the operating window. It would be interesting to hear from anyone running an i7 nuc and synching across Auralic plus one other make end point device.
Is Library Audio Analysis still going? Try going to Settings Library and turning Background Audio Analysis Speed to OFF and see if that changes your core usage. The initial audio analysis can be days or even a week depending on library size and other factors.
It has been running for 7 days already. I think I am at my limit of testing the product on my current set up.
I do think a dedicated Nucleus would be of great benefit to anyone wanting to run Roon though.
It is primarily a metadata product rather than a synchronisation product in my opinion.
With my move to a two group streamer set up - one being the soon to be implemented Auralic group downstairs, and the separate Node group upstairs the onboard synchronisation will suffice. (The Sqbx system will be retired).
Not sure if anyone’s still reading this thread but I have tried to group a Bluesound Node 2i and an Arcam ST60. When I hit play there is possibly as much as a 500ms difference between them with the Arcam being the quicker of the the two however, if I pause the track and press play again the two zones are perfectly in sync.
This sounds like something that there should surely be a solution to. Has anyone any new suggestions on how I might be able to fix this or can I appeal to Roon for a fix? Thanks
You should open a topic in support to get proper attention by Roon Labs. (This one here is in the user discussion section of the forum, which isn’t officially being monitored). Click here → Support and then on the big Get Help button
Sounds like you’ve discovered the fix. Simply pause and play again
