Wiim Pro now has Airplay casting

I just noticed that on my Wiim Pro, I am now able to select an Airplay Receiver as an audio out. This is a new addition next to the existing Line Out, SPDIF Out, COAX Out and Bluetooth Receiver options.

A couple of theoretical use cases I can think of are:

  • Combining RAAT and non-RAAT endpoint. E.g. using the Wiim Pro as a bridge to a HomePod grouped with a RoonReady endpoint
  • Streaming to an Airplay device in a different subnet

Theoretical being the key word of course

Nice โ€ฆ I just thought of a use case for this - to my soundbar in another room which has an old AirPort Express connected to it for Airplay. Now I donโ€™t need to get a WiiM Mini for it :+1: Iโ€™ll have to try this out when I get back home (assuming this works the way I think it will).

Interesting! Question: will it stream with Airplay 2 or โ€œjustโ€ Airplay towards the stereo-paired homepods?
