Describe the issue

Hi, My Wiim Ultra Streamer was working great with Roon until my WiFi router was replaced a couple of days ago. I've got everything set back up and all logged in to the new WiFi, but I am not able to get Roon to play using WiFi on the Wiim Ultra any longer. It does work via bluetooth though. I check the firewall and it looks like Roon is allowing incoming connections.

Describe your network setup

the Wiim Ultra is connected via WIFI and the new wifi router is a Century Link C400LG

Hey @winter_brad,

Thanks for writing in and for sharing your report!

Before anything else, if you can, I’d definitely test out using the wiim via ethernet - connected directly to your new router and test playback.

From a fresh diagnostic report, we can see playback occurring normally for most of the track you mention:

Trace: [Wiim Ultra] [HighQuality, 24/48 ALAC => 24/48] [5% buf] [PLAYING @ 1:57/2:02] Banjo Players of Aleph One - Gwenifer Raymond

But then, we see the problem - the loss of network reachability to the WiiM Ultra:

failed to connect(0) No route to host

This means:

  • Roon cannot reach the WiiM Ultra over the network
  • Not “slow network” or “packet loss”
  • But a hard routing failure at the OS/network stack level
In practical terms, the WiiM Ultra temporarily disappears from the network.

Outside of testing a hardwire connection, if staying on Wi-Fi:

  • Lock WiiM Ultra to one band (preferably 5 GHz)
  • Disable Wi-Fi power saving if available
Let me know if the above helps, thank you! 🙌

After changing out a router, a reboot of everything on the network is recommended as so a IP is not being shared and to make sure everything is on the same subnet.
