I’m having a very similar issue. I posted this on another thread, but I am reporting here for visibility to the issue:
I’m having the same problem (I think). I’m running windows 10. Roon server loads and appears to be operating with the icon in my tray. When I launch Roon I get a screen that says choose you Roon server (this is new, never had this screen before). It shows this pc the ip and ready. When I hit the connect button the screen changes to the globe with movement like its loading. But it never does, it just keeps spinning until I exit out, never connecting. I’ve used Roon for a long time on this machine without issues. Now I can’t connect. My mobile Roon ap and Arc aps will not connect either, exhibiting the same behavior. I run an eero network and did remove a modem between my fiber terminal output and the eero recently. Not sure if that affects anything. It didn’t affect anything else on my network or my windows 10 pc.
I didnt see any prior posts from you, so I created a new thread with your replies for proper visibility.
Whenever we see connection issues happening on the same device running Roon Server and the GUI app, it’s typically caused by an interruption in the system’s firewall.
Can you please temporarily disable the firewall on your PC, and see if your issues occur? Heres more info on adding Roon as an exception to your firewall settings for future use:
I’ve tried disabling both my domain and private network firewalls and this does not solve or affect the issue I am having. Roon still fails to connect to the server and just idles until I close it out. Here is a snip of the screen where this happens:
Doing this procedure seems to have corrected the issue I was having. So far everything seems to be working as expected now. The data base must have been corrupted or the software changed, and it could not be loaded properly. The only thing is I’ve lost my extensive album edits and corrections. How do I get those back? The rest of the settings were very easy to add back.
@Robert_Graeter, if you have a recent backup of the Roon database, you can restore that and your album edits should be there (depending on how old the backup is). If you decide to do this, it may be useful to backup the current database (without the edits, but knowing it is stable as you eliminated the login loop), just in case the backup used for recovery may be corrupted.
