When im using Roon with exclusive mode with wasapi or asio i can still change volume with windows. This also occurs on Tidal.
Im using Topping D70 PRO SABRE dac, could the driver have non lossable windows communication? I have the latest topping driver, also i formatted recently windows and i dont remember it happening before.
Hi Borys, welcome!
As far as I know, if devices implement hardware volume control and drivers support it, Windows is going to use that for volume control, so it won’t change the bits. I have a D70 DAC and when I play DoP, I can slide the Windows volume control but it doesn’t do anything, so it’s definitely implemented by the device.
Hi @xellyeo,
Can you please elaborate on this? Do you mean in the Tidal app, or the Tidal web player?
Please also share a screenshot of the Windows System Sound settings page.
Yeah on Tidal pc app. I tested it also in foobar same thing i can use windows volume in asio/wasapi. i dont know if this is what you wanted
also i found out that if I play a dsd file on roon the sound volume setting in windows just instantly turns mute and i cant change it unless play something pcm based and then i can use windows volume.
Hi @xellyeo,
This points at the windows machine itself in this case. I’d also triple-check your windows audio drivers firmware versions as well, and see if any updates or reinstalls may be needed.
