Windows Roon app crashes on special character paste in search bar (ref#OS1MML)[ticket in]

Hi! What’s not quite right with Roon?

· None of the above quite fits

None of the above quite fits

· App interface looks or behaves oddly

Tell us what's going on

· The Windows Roon app crashes when certain characters are pasted into its search bar. I often use AI to find certain tracks, and when I copy paste directly without filtering out certain characters/icons, instead of the search ignoring them it actually crashes.

eg if you copy/paste this into the roon search the app just dies.

🎧 2. Dire Straits – “Private Investigations”

Hopefully the search can be made to at least not crash when it sees characters, I assume one being this headphone icon.

Good day @Mark007 !

Thanks for reaching to us with this problem.

We have tried to check this problem in house and could not reproduce it straight away.

Then we would like to ask you to reproduce the problem once again and if possible record it on video and remember the time stamp and provide it to us.

Then, please upload the video to our Media Storage and export the Event Viewer logs and upload to our Logs Storage.

That will help us to investigate your case.

Thanks!

Regards.

Thank you. I have uploaded the recording now to the media storage, however in my windows event viewer i see no associated events at this time of the crash. But for me at least reproducing is as easy as in the recording, copy paste directly from my post above, and those special characters causes the app to hard crash it seems.

Hello @Mark007

Thank you for the update. I was able to replicate the issue on my end, and we’ve discussed this with our senior QA and development teams. The team is investigating some possibilities here and, as soon as that investigation is complete, we’ll be sure to follow up ASAP.

You have our apologies for the trouble here, and we’ve greatly appreciated your patience as we continue investigating this tricky issue. We’ll be in touch as soon as we can.

Many thanks for taking the feedback and working on it internally. This is great.

Hello @Mark007

I wanted to touch base with some good news, which is that our technical team has been able to reproduce this behavior and we’ve opened up a bug report with our developers.

While I can’t say for certain when this bug will be fixed, getting things reproduced in-house is a critical first step, and I will keep this thread up to date as the team passes along feedback and work begins to get this resolved.

Thanks again for the report!
