I have roon installed a Dell Server, all other file types play just fine: FLAC, WAV, mp3, m4a, but not AIF, it just roles though every song on a album in like a second.
The chain is: Server to desktop; same network switch. Desktop has a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 USB DAC with schitt USB power supply outputting to an Arcan A28.
I have tested the .AIF file with windows media, and it plays no problem. I don’t have itunes installed, I don’t want it installed. I have about 2TB of music fines of which 29k are AIF.
The files show up in Roon but when you select a song it does a very fast run though every single song on the album in about a second.
I have almost 100,000 files and they all are aiff. I have no problem playing them. Did you do a conversion to get to the aiff format? Try importing a single cd into iTunes using the aiff encoder and see if you can play that in Roon. If so, something is wrong with the conversion of your other files.
Roon from my windows 7 pro desktop runs through every single track in that album in under a second. like running your finger down a piano.
I am not sure what you mean System Output. Roon plays all the other files on this server with Zero issues: FLAC, WAV, M4A, MP3. Its just, AIF files that behave this way.
I found a fix. My office has 2 devices list as playback in the Zones, not sure how to explain it but its what it created, one for my Scarlet 2i2 using WASAPI for volume control, I changed to fixed and it started playing. The other was a Focusrite USB 2.0 driver, using the scarlett 2i2 USB (WASAPI) which works for FLAC etc but not AIF, they both look very similur, one was listed as Private zone.
