My Yamaha RX-V6A receiver popped up a message this morning saying that it needed a firmware update. Being the fool I am, I told it to go ahead; the firmware update said it completed successfully.
However, previous to the update, my Roon Nucleus One “saw” and streamed just fine to the Ethernet input of the Yamaha. Now it won’t. The Nucleus still claims to “see” the Yamaha as a zone, but none of the Yamaha’s inputs are playing what Roon’s putting out. Roon thinks that it’s streaming to the Yamaha, but either Roon, the Yamaha, or both are mistaken.
After a power cycling of the entire system, including the Nucleus and the Yamaha (at the suggestion of Yamaha’s tech support) nothing has changed. Still no music. Why?
I see two zones shown for my Yamaha - One subtitled “ALSA,” and the other “Airplay.” The former is enabled, the second, not. Leave them as is, reverse the enablement status, enable both, or disable both and ask Roon to rescan?
Can you show a screen grab of what you see pleases. If your using network than only Airplay will work as the Yamaha has no other means to talk to Roon so this zone would need to be selected. Or are you hardwiring it as that’s the only reason ALSA would show if you’re using USB or HDMI. If so then you would choose ALSA.
When I was able to stream to my Yamaha RX-V6A via Ethernet, it DID show “Airplay” on the Yamaha’s display. And, if I remember correctly, the Yamaha was displayed in the Roon zones list as “Yamaha - Airplay” or something like that.
After Yamaha’s firmware update of a few days ago, the Airplay option no longer appears in the Roon zones list.
Have you restarted all devices? your server, audio devices and network devices? I would try this power off your devices then restart the network. Wait for it to come back up then power up Roon server then each device you use in Roon.
I take it you can see Airplay to the Yamaha from your Mac or iOS devices?
