Description of Issue
Roon on the music pc offered for a couple of years an ASIO and a WASAPI device for the UR242. After running hours or days Roon lost both devices. After reboot of the pc they were available again.
Now suddenly there are no device available anymore. Perhaps after a Roon update?
All other apps on this pc don’t have any problems with the Steinberg UR242 ASIO or WASAPI and never had. The newest Yamaha Steinberg driver is installed (V2.1.5 2023).
All other devices attached to different mashines or phones/tablets are working fine in Roon.
What can I do to make the UR242 drivers in Roon available again? Thank you for help!
Another reason, is that the USB connection is going to sleep for some reason. Is the DAC being turned off? Maybe a sleep power mode setting that turns off.
Or, there is an issue with the USB. It wouldn’t hurt to try another cable.
In the meantime I’ve tried out some more things and see that for this PC there’s really no single audio device shown. No System Output and nothing. But at the same time Windows has its system output and for example JRiver can access ASIO or WASAPI, both, and both are working fine.
For testing I’ve reactivated the onboard sound of the mb. It makes sounds when I use it in control panel. But in Roon also this is not visible. It is as if RoonBridge was not running. But I see it runs.
When I start a completely different PC, my main Audio-PC with an audiophile DAC attached via USB and RoonBridge running, there are immediately a couple of audio devices that I can use. Same Roon Core, same network, different Windows-PC, different behavior.
I don’t have more ideas what I could test… I hope some of you do!
The symptoms you state are usually down to a Firewall issue - the Core cannot see the audio hardware on your music PC. Can you try turning off the Firewall on your music PC temporarily as a test?
Hi, thank you for beeing persistent! Now I’ve found the problem, it was really deep inside the firewall.
Switching it off temporarily didn’t change the behavior. In the list of apps raatserver.exe was listeted as not critical and not blocked.
But, relating the network device (Windows PC with Roon Core) there was raatserver.exe blocked!
