2022 Albums of the Year - Post your favourites here

Yes that’s absolutely right.
I took about 5 or 6 out of my list right at the end as my final top 10 list was about 30 albums long :joy_cat:

That was one that dropped off, but an excellent album I also bought

Thanks for your list, I really like to read the lists of prog lovers to discover good music, I don’t know most of them.

Being an old (old) guy I recognize very few of these artists - which is great - adding to my 2023 explore new music list.

Cheers all.

@Rockhound Have a great day tomorrow. All the best from me :+1:.
We have our seven year old nephew with us at the moment and guess what his favourite drink is?
P.S. It’s not the wine. Not a fan of Bucky!

I’ll be honest, this year has come and gone in terms of free time to listen to music.
I had a quick look earlier today and have come up with a list of things that I have played more than a half dozen times this year. Not definitive, but here it is.

Jonathan Jeremiah - Horsepower For The Streets.
Played more than any other album this year. Deservedly my AOTY.

In no specific order:

Half Man Half Biscuit - The Voltarol Years.
Gwenno - Tresor.
Marillion - An Hour Before It’s Dark.
Nils Frahm - Music For Animals.
Alvvays - Blue Rev.
Todd Rundgren - Space Force.
Ian Prowse - One Hand On The Starry Plough.
Smut - How The Light Felt.
Michael Head & The Red Elastic Band - Dear Scott.
Alex G - God Save The Animals.
Josh Rouse - Going Places.
Beth Orton - Weather Alive.

Edit: Forgot about this one
Anais Mitchell - Anais Mitchell.

Here are 10 of mine, though I am including not just 1, but 2 live releases. Rules were made to be broken, right?

Tears for Fears - The Tipping Point
Who knew that a band that released a great album before I had turned 21 could still make such fantastic music as I’m pushing 60! Without hesitation, my AOTY.

My remaining favorites, in no particular order:

Big Big Train - Summer Shall Not Fade
Big Big Train - Welcome to the Planet
Snarky Puppy - Empire Central
Khruangbin/Vieux Farka Touré - Ali
Makaya Mcraven - In These Times
GoGo Penguin - Between Two Waves
Porcupine Tree - Closure/Continuation
Bill Laurance & The Untold Orchestra - Live at EFG London Jazz Festival 2021
Ndudozu Makhathini - In The Spirit of Ntu

It’s less of a rule, more of a guidance
(Even though no one knows the rules because we make them up)
