[Moderator Note: similar “own notes” requests have been consolidated into this topic.]
One of the ways I keep track of yet-to-be-released albums/EPs is bookmarking a web page, updating a text file (e.g. Evernote), or flagging a promotional e-mail that reference them. While Evernote could serve as a single source for such information, I would love to have a similar option within Roon. Any chance of enabling something as simple as a text box (preferably with a link to it on the bottom, next to the Heart and Lyrics icons)?
To go even further, it would be useful to be able to submit custom text (much like custom tags or Edit Version field for each album) for any given album or track. It’s for those of us (like me) weird enough to keep listening notes of a particular track (or album) as we listen.
Ultimately, I would like Roon to be the central/sole source for anything related to music (and not just to play music) – a mashup of Tidal and Evernote (I suppose).
I would like to have the option to add extra reviews for albums. As well as the main review, on the album screen there could be a button or something to bring up reviews from other sites. This would essentially be a copy and paste function for the user. Maybe some small buttons to the right or somewhere near the main review, to indicate that there are other reviews available that the user has selected.
Also, perhaps the review sources could be “tagged”, so that by clicking on the review source, Roon would show all other entries in the database where the same source has reviewed the album.
And just to add to this - it would be good to have a number of hyperlinks within Roon that the user could click on, to take them to their favourite music-related websites. Maybe this could be integrated somehow with the existing links section.
I’d like to see the ability to add personal notes to albums (or even tracks). Could be personal review, custom settings of my equipment, memories, date/location where I picked up the recording, gift, shopping list
I would love to have something like this as well. If we could include an nfo file with XML that roon reads in the album directory. Roon could just parse info from the nfo file and put in in some designated fields that would be viewable in roon.
If this is to be considered, it would be great to enable such a feature at multiple levels (e.g. track, album and artist). I think it could create a sort of musical-journaling feature. Interesting request…
+1. Would be great to be able to add notes to particular tracks or albums. The comments field in the tags could be used - though some users (myself included) already have info in the comments field which isn’t personal comments. It therefore might be preferable for some other ?custom tag/field to be used.
One way or another, I would really like to be able to display the Comments field in Roon. I think (obsessive-compulsive) people already use this field for a number of purposes. A friend of mine uses it for “performance notes” on classical works. I’ve been using it for quite some time to stash track-by-track personnel info. With all the missing personnel data in the All Music database, it would be great to be able to display my own personnel data from within Roon.
This can easily be done right now on an individual song basis. Click album to see songs, right-click on a song, click ‘track info’ at top of screen, click ‘file tags’ (in blue), scroll to comments field (if it has info)…
Wow! Thanks for the tip. I simply had not seen that before.
Very cool! Still, it would be awesome to comment at the album or artist level which would then reside in the Roon database rather than the individual flac track tags.
Also worth mentioning here - as well as adding extra reviews, a feature to allow the user to add their own notes/review to the album too. I think that this feature has been mentioned elsewhere.
