I’m having the problem “Too many failures. Stopping playback”. First time I reinstalled Roon but it didn’t work, then I restored a backup and started working again until I had to reboot the PC and the probelem went back. Roon works with my cellphone that I use to play tracks via bluetooth and also RoonArc is working flawlwssly.
Any idea?
@Stefano_Dainese, what version of Roon are you using for your Roon Core? And what devices are experiencing these connection notices, every device or only those using WiFi?
Roon version 2.0 (build 1234) production (64bit). The only device with problems is my PC, the same where Roon core is installed, connected via ethernet and playing through USB cable (Topping E50 DAC).
I forgot to write that the first time the issue happened was after installing an update.
I have no idea if this is the case, but I wonder if your database may have become corrupted. Does it make sense to make another backup with the system working and have another recent copy available in case the playback failures begin again?
I am using Roon now, after the restore, and the database is working. I just checked the backups, they are all of the version 1.8, I have no idea how I’ve been able to have version 2.0 after the restore.
Now I’m doing a backup in a different path.
I was wondering about that given that the database needed an update. The 2.0 backups should provide another level of confidence should something happen again.
So, bad news. I had to restart the PC again, problem was immediately back. I tried to unistall and install again, didn’t work, restored the older backup (Feb. 7th) and didn’t work too. Now I can’t use Roon anymore. What else can I try?
Good news, I found out that a new driver for most Topping DACs was available, installed it and everything works again. Restarted the PC and it’s still fine! Solved.
Thread reopened because of the latest news, the problem went up again, Roon works only in connection with my cellphone or the TV set in another room.
Update: the situation is getting even worse. After the last backup restore, Roon can’t find any audio zone in my PC, it plays only through my television in a different room.
I will wipe the program and reinstall from zero (again) and see what will happen. Honestly the only reason why I’m still trying is that Roon is by far the best music software I ever tried.
I’m having the same issue. It’s a nightmare. How do a million music players/music servers exist, and the most expensive one of all time just constantly fails? If the software isn’t extraordinarily buggy, then it’s user error and it would be hard to believe that the users are all to blame
Hi, my solution was to move the core to a different PC, a small and cheap one that until now it’s working flawlessly, despite the fact that it’s well under the minimal requirements. My understanding is that there’s a conflict between sound drivers, this small unit only has roon in it and that cuts the problem. Nevertheless it’s a shame on roon, they must find a solution.
I was able to solve my issue by reinstalling the sound drivers for my usb dac. Of course, there were no issues running other audio programs. I get that it’s complicated but this issue is really on Roon’s side and should be addressed by them
