Album art doesn't display when streaming to Chromecast, i.e. Google Nest Hub 2nd gen. It only displays Roon is playing. Also - if I play to a group of chromecast devices (multiroom), Album art does not show on any of the devices with compatible display. Not even the Cambridge CXN100. All displays work fine if I start playback to chromecast devices from a different app, for instance the Qobuz app. Multiroom included.
Welcome to the forum. Roon is not yet fully compatible with Nest Hub as per @Suedkiez 's post, but I am curious about your secondary report regarding the album artwork. You are saying that when Chromecasting standalone to the device it works fine with album art, but when in a group, it does not, am I understanding that correctly?
If I Chromecast from the roon app, album art does not show on any device including the Cambridge cxn100. It shows the image I posted. Same thing if I stream to a chromecast group from the roon app.
If I chromecast from another app, Qobuz for instance, album art shows on all devices including the nest hub without problems. Album art is also displayed when streaming to a chromecast group from the qobuz app (or any other app than roon)
Of course there is no problems if I only stream to the roon ready interface of the cxn100. But the chromecast multitoom feature is something I use especially for radio. So I really hope this can be fixed, preferably before my trial ends.
Also I’m curious to know when roon might be fully compatible with Google nest display? To me it seems odd that it isn’t when it works fine from other streaming apps?
Thank you for your diligent and thorough response. We’re hoping to request diagnostic logging from your RoonServer machine to escalate the issue to development. However, the machine has so far been offline.
At your convenience, please provide an approximate timestamp (or the name of the track that you were playing to the multi-Zone group via Cast). Please also follow the directions found here and send over a set of RoonServer logs to our File Uploader. We’re happy to answer and questions or clarify further.
From there, we should be able to reproduce the issue in-house and, should a fix be required, put something in the pipeline for an upcoming release. Thanks!
Thank you for your patience. We’ve reviewed diagnostics along with your previous post. There’s nothing out of the ordinary from the perspective of the current technical iteration of Roon. What you’re requesting is a feature merger for the Nest Hub between Roon’s Chromecast Display capabilities (which enable display of artwork, metadata, waveform, etc.,) with Roon’s Chromecast Audio capabilities (ie. Cast Zones).
Add your voice and vote to the feature request linked there.
We admit the existing support literature doesn’t highlight this distinction well. We’re in the process of overhauling the Help Center, so we appreciate you bearing with us.
