This morning, I sign onto Roon. The only audio output is “System Output” which is the Mini-Mac I use as my Roon music server.
All the other Roon outputs are gone. These include KEF Wireless speakers, Bluesound Streamers, Cambridge Audio Steamers, my iPad, my iPhone, and the MacBook Pro I’m using to write this.
I did not check every device, but I checked some and they are all connected to my LAN.
Thank you, but that did not work. After doing all that, the only audio devices that show are System Output and the Mac mini speakers. The Mac mini speakers also play from my other Apple devices where I have Roon software, not the speakers from the devices themselves, e.g. if I play an album from my MacBook Pro Roon software, the output is from the Mac mini, not the speakers on the MacBook Pro.
Strange. In the first post you said only the System Output was available. Did the Mac Mini Speakers appear now after previously not being there? If so, the procedure did fix something.
No idea why it doesn’t see the others, though. Just for diligence, is this the same regardless of which device you use to look at Roon > Settings > Audio?
This is a test replay. I tried twice to reply to your last post, and it did not show up. BTW, I also think Cat Power’s recreation of Dylan’s 1966 concert is great.

Thank you!
I went thru the questionnaire and the problem remains. The questions went into a loop that kept taking me back to the question about a firewall, and I have no firewall turned on for the computer holding my Roon Core. Since it kept taking me back to the Firewall question, I never got the point of being able to submit the answers to the quesionnaire.
The questions don’t fully address my problem. The questions addressed whether all outputs appeared or none do. In my case, one appears but no others do.
My Roon Core is on a recent Mac mini. The Mac mini is wired to my LAN. All my Roon endpoints are wired to my LAN. In the Roon desktop program on my Mac mini, the only output available is “System Output.” Under “Audio,” Roon shows my System Output and the speakers on my Mac mini. Playing any file results in music outputs from the Mac mini speakers regardless if I selected “System Output” or the Mac mini speakers.
When I use the Roon desktop on this MacBook Pro, Roon only shows one Output device, namely, “System Output.” Playing any music file and the sound comes from the speakers of the Mac mini that holds my Roon core. No other output is possible. I cannot even get an output on the MacBookPro used to connect to the Roon Core.
Roon and the Roon server both have permissions to use the LAN on my Mac mini. My Mac is using OS 15.x. This problem appeared before I upgraded to 15.x.
I have two Bluesound Nodes, one Cambridge Audio streamer and a pair of KEF wireless speakers. Nothing shows up as an output device on Roon except the Mac mini speakers. Again, the Bluesound Nodes and Cambridge Audio device are ethernet wired to the same network as my Mac mini. The devices all show up on my network diagnostic program. One day everything worked fine, and the next day they all disappeared.
I have my Roon library backed up. If I treated Roon as I treat another buggy application, I’d delete everything associated with Roon on my Mac mini, and all my Apple devices with the Roon software, and start all over again. Then hope for the best. But I’m afraid if I do that, the new Roon will create a new library and not recognize my exiting library. I’d lose all my playlists. That’s why I don’t do that.
Daniel, Please see my previous reply. The questionnaire put me in a loop so I could not complete it.
I would really like to fix this problem soon as to listen to all the holiday music I have from ripped CDs I play thru Roon.
I don’t mind deleting Roon from all my computers and starting over again if that’s the only answer. I have my Roon library backed up and hope I can reinstall it if I start with a new Roon download.
Thanks for the update, and for your patience so far! Lets refresh your RAATServer database on your Roon Server machine.
You can generate a new RAATServer instance on your device by following these instructions, but please be aware that this will reset your Roon Settings → Audio Tab to factory settings and I would advise making a backup of any custom DSP settings you have:
I need more help. I did backup my current Roon Database. So that’s Ok.
I have a Mac mini running osMac 15.1
I followed the Roon instructions to find the Database Location. But I did not find a folder that says “Raatserver.” Instead, I found 14 separate files with the name starting with "raatserver.[alpha and numeric characters]
These 14 files appeared in the following tree:
Library → Roonserver → Database → Registry → Core
I checked all the Library and found nothing with “raatserver” except in the Core folder referenced above.
In my Library folder there were four folders with the Roon name: Roon, Roongoer, Roonmounts, and RoonServer.
I did not change the name of any of the 14 raatsever files for fear of doing serious damage.
Benjamin, This worked great. All my endpoints reappeared when I downloaded the program from you website after relabeling the folders Roon Server and Roon to add “_old” to those names.
I all worked great until tonight. I signed onto Roon and was told the software needed updating and it would update my database. After I did that, all my Room endpoints disappeared again. Nada.
Does that mean that every time Roon updates its software, I have to relabel those folders, go to your website and download Roon from scratch?
I’m going to try that again tomorrow morning and hope but works like it did before. But it will be pain to keep doing this as Roon updates the program frequently.
I went ahead and did a second drill of relabeling Roon and Roon Server to add “_old” to the end of the folder names. I did this before I read your response.
Then I downloaded another version of Roon from your website, and now it won’t allow me sign on as either having an account or as getting a free trial. This was after the Roon program loaded and found my Mac mini to use as a Core. My Roon backup file, which I updated this morning, is safely on an external SSD.
When checking Apple’s screen sharing for IP addresses, I only found one for the computer that holds the Roon Core. That’s the Mac mini that only has one IP address.
Should I totally remove Roon from that Mac mini and start all over. And restore my library from the external SSD?
When I start Roon, I get a screen that allows me to set up my Mac mini as my Core. No problem with that. Then I get a sign on screen asking me if I have an account or want to set one up. These are pictured below. If I select I have an account, I the blank Roon screen and a circle that shows it is loaded and that never stops. If I select the option to set up a new account, I get the scene pictured below, but no matter what information I input, after I click to set up an account, that information disappears and nothing happens.
Hi @Michael_Davis,
Thanks for the detailed answer! From what you said I think something in your browser settings may be holding up the sign in process. Please check that cookies are allowed on your browser and if you have any pop-up blockers whitelist Roon. Let us know if this help resolve this.
Daniel, It is fixed. I have no idea why, but it is. I had an issue that I needed to call Apple about another issue. They insist you have installed the latest operating system before they try to fix something. So on my Mac mini, I upgraded to Sequoia 15.2 from 14. My Mac-mini restarted with all the windows open that I had open prior to the upgrade. Roon restarted and signed me in without me doing anything. Then when I went to play some music, all my endpoints were visible to Roon. I’m listening to it now. Go figure. Ours is not to wonder why… all I care is that I can use Roon again. And I can!
