Can someone spell out the system requirements for the Roon Remote on Android

I get a message on the play store that my device is not compatible with thisome app

Android 5.1.1

What device are you using? As noted in our release notes:

Note that we now require OpenGL ES 3.0 support on Android

It’s a Samsung Tab A 6 in running Android 5.1.1

Is there a way to check if it supports Open Gl 3

I saw that after I posted but I have no idea how to check for support

It’s a fairly bottom of the range tablet so maybe not

Hmm, SM-T580/5 should support OpenGL ES 3.1 (GPU: Mali-T830) but Samsung also lists it with Android 6.

I found Open gl es info

It shows versions 1 & 2 but not 3

Is this hardware defined or can I update software?

This is hardware related. See also:

Different OpenGL levels are features of the integrated graphics adapter. Your device either supports a given level or not; there is nothing to download here. If it doesn’t support OpenGL ES 3.0 or higher you’re device is not able to run Roon Remote 1.7. You can search the internet for information about the capabilities of the graphics adapter in your device (search term: ModelOfYourDevice OpenGL).

As BlackJack suggested, this is hardware related support. If OpenGL ES 3.0 is not supported by the hardware, it cannot be used with Roon.
