Congrats on your recovery!
Have you considered the Arcam? It seems on par the Anthem and supports Roon.

Yes, I looked at the Arcam and at the time the model I was interested in was the AV40 but elsewhere in the world (eg UK) they were already selling the AV41 and they were the same price. Australia were only selling the obsolete model. Also you then had to go and spend extra to fully enable the room correction capability and then even more to correct multiple subwoofers. I can’t recall exactly but I’m not sure the Arcam supported 4 independent subs either. I didn’t look too closely after finding them selling an old model, also the dealer didn’t give much discount on those where I could get the price much lower on the AVM90 (20% vs 10%)
At the time there just wasn’t anything as good as the AVM90. I’ve had it about 6 months and I’m very happy with it. I’ve added a couple of Anthem power amps and I’m using an Anthem STR power amp in the new 2 channel system until the guy in the Luxman factory gets around to soldering mine together (the STR is so good that if I hadn’t payed a large deposit on the M-10X I’d cancel the order - it’s been 3 months since I ordered)
Ah. I wouldn’t have bought the old model either.
Generally, how does the sound quality differ between Arcam and Anthem?
I can only tell you what the sound quality is like on the 40 not the 41, although I think the only change has been the hdmi 2.1 and hdcp2.3 rather than audio circuitry. I found the Arcam to be quite warm where the AVM90 is more neutral. I would have been happy with either since I came from a Valve power amp setup the warmth would have been fine with me. At the end of the day the 2 channel performance was why I was looking at high end processors and I found I preferred the Anthem, I should say I also listened to the AV30 which was very good, their integrated units are better sounding than the MRX1140, it’s not even close but neither is the price. As I said I’m moving to a 2 channel system and I’m using a switch box to switch the main amp from the AVM90 to my Weiss DAC so I’m not using the AVM 90 for music any longer. Originally I was going to run the 2 channel in another room but since I’m doing it in the one room now I am integrating 2 pairs of subs so the 4 independent channel sub setup on the AVM90 is ideal.
March 2023 still no certification
Two companies with kinda spotty support. Why don’t we ever learn?
Here is what I don’t understand… Is it a delay on Anthem’s part or a backlog/delay on the Roon side? Read this reply I got from Anthem on Instagram at the beginning of the year, it is not clear where the hold-up is:
Yes, I’m a bit puzzled by this. I am seriously considering upgrading my amp to the Anthem MRX1140 for the home cinema and music and have seen Roon-ready for some time, but not listed on Roon partners site. Not sure if this means it works, but need an extra step to get Roon-partner status or, does it mean it is still a work-in-progress?
Wonder if Anthem or Roon would like to respond to your question of where the holdup is and what needs to happen to finally be on the Roon partner site?
Roon Labs will never comment on the status of any Roon certifications that may (or may not) be underway - that is left to the manufacturer to announce when it is completed. At that point, the certified equipment will be listed on the Roon Labs partner page as being “Roon Ready”.
The fact of the matter is that the Anthem company itself is not listed (any more?) on the partner page, which leads me to believe that no Anthem product at all can be considered as being Roon Ready
This post on instagram is the most I’ve ever seen from them on this topic and seems to continue to provide some hope (with no timeline) it still may come. Hard to keep holding out hope, but I am anyway.
From the Instagram post, it seems Anthem are very keen to be Roon-certified (having suggested a ‘temporary’ workaround), even if the ‘courting’ is somewhat one-way! As Geoff says Roon do not comment on Roon nearly-readies, it seems the onus must be on Anthem jumping through the required hoops. Perhaps, I will reach out to Anthem and ask them why certification is taking so long and whether they are still pursuing it actively and report back here.
Please see my email to Anthem and their very prompt, if not entirely satisfactory response. I believe they are still trying for certification and again mention the workaround.

Anthem’s response:
Unfortunately it has taken significantly longer to introduce the full Roon functionality to our units as the requirements to do so are extensive. There is currently no confirmed timeframe on when this will be available but our engineers are working diligently to implement this feature.
Until then, the current workaround would be to use Airplay or Chromecast to stream Roon, although this would be at a limited sample rate due to the limitations of these streaming modules.

My email:
Hello, I am about to have a home cinema installed and have shortlisted the Anthem MRX1140 or an Arcam product but leaning towards the Anthem. All my other AV uses Control4 and Roon for music distribution. I have seen Roon-ready stated on your products, however, it is not on Roon’s partners list of products. I understand Roon does not comment on nearly-ready products and would appreciate an understanding from you on how much longer it is likely to be before certification. I and several fellow Roon users who have a great regard for Anthem would be grateful for a response as for many of us, this will help to make our minds up on purchasing an Anthem product. The only information we have is an Instagram post which mentions you are close and doing your best to meet requirements and even suggests an interim workaround. Thank you.
IF Anthem were an ethical company, it would delete all references to Roon from its ad copy until and unless it has COMPLETED and PASSED the certification process.
This should have been done years ago. Also, IMHO, Roon should have insisted Anthem remove references to Roon Ready when it bacame apparent years ago that it was not “Coming Soon”.
Coming sometime (maybe eventually) doesn’t have the same marketing impact as Roon Ready
Anthem hw will never be Roon certified.
If they were a serious company they would remove any Roon reference from their website.
Anthem still barely have a reasonable remote app that is relatively glitch free for the mrx series. If you want to not be driven out of your mind waiting for them either decide the sound is good enough or find a better manufacturer. I won’t but then again.
