Arc static on bluetooth headphones

I have had a similar experience with ARC on iOS (iPhone) playing through bluetooth earphones.

Just now: Opened ARC on iPhone with bluetooth earphones connected, browsed to an album, started playing a song. Immediately got hit with very loud static-y sound. Stopped playback, started again on the same song, no problem.

Hi @Jamison_Foser,

Thanks for your report! This is likely a different issue, but nonetheless something we’ll want to take a closer look at.

Could you first please remove the earphones from the device and re-discover them, then, reproduce the issue and share the date, time, and track playing?

Thanks! :raised_hands:

@benjamin I have a similar issue over here: Static-y audio issue with Roon ARC Bluetooth connection in car [Roon Investigating] (ref#65OODE) - #15 by patcoll

I was just able to reproduce a similar static-y audio behavior with a pair of Powerbeats3. It happened just now with these details:

  • Date: 2024-05-10
  • Time: 3:34 PM Eastern US
  • Track playing: Artist: Jonas Hoffmann, Track: Pine, Album: Peaceful Day

This just happened again. May 23, approximately 12:16 pm pacific. Here’s the sequence:

  1. Listening to a track (Corduroy, Pearl Jam) on Arc on my iPhone via AirPods Pro. Everything is fine.

  2. Opened a tab in a browser on my laptop, which caused the laptop to take control of the AirPods.

  3. Closed laptop tab, pressed Play on Arc Lock Screen widget on iPhone to resume playing Corduroy. Was met with immediate loud static sound.

  4. Stopped playback, then started again. Everything was fine.

I’ve experienced this exact behavior myself. Mostly just an unpleasant and loud surprise when it happens. Closing and restarting the app fixes the issue every time. I think it happens when connected to AirPods and starting music after having been listening to audio from another app.

Thanks for the additional report!

If you could, please perform a ‘forget this device’ via the Bluetooth settings on the phone you’re having issues on - and then establish a fresh connection with the airpods.

Are you able to reproduce the issue after the above? If so, please share a fresh date, time, and song name. Thank you! :+1:
