As a fan of Roon on NAS, I enjoy helping people achieve the same joy I have using Roon, whether Roon on NAS or just using your NAS as a storage platform.
There have been many instances of people having problems connecting to their Roon music shares on DSM 7, and after much struggle helping these folks, I think the community here might have stumbled upon a solution.
Thanks to @Joel_Alperson’s patience, it now seems likely that DSM 7’s more stringent password strength requirements are what is likely at play for many of these situations.
TL;DR? If you are experiencing SMB connection issues to your DSM 7 shares, change your password to meet the new minimum strength requirements.
Even though legacy accounts are purportedly exempt from these rules, I have found that this is not always the case, depending upon where you are employing these credentials (e.g., SMB).
