B1280 Local static lyrics don't replace Roon's timecode lyrics in Now Playing (which are incorrect) [Known poor behavior, not new in B1280]

I don’t know if this is a new thing in EA but I never noticed this before. Please move to #support if necessary.

I have an album locally on ROCK:

The tracks have Roon timecode lyrics, but for one of the tracks they are incorrect. (They are a duplicate of the lyrics from the next track #4, “One Evening”):

These are the (incorrect) timecoded lyrics as shows in Now Playing:

I added the correct lyrics to the file tag, which are not timecoded. These correct lyrics from the file are now shown when going to the track’s three-dot menu > View Lyrics:

However, the incorrect time code lyrics are still displayed in the Now Playing view when playing the track, although my Library > Import Settings say this:

Is it the case that Roon only replaces Roon timecode lyrics with file timecode lyrics and Roon static lyrics with file static lyrics? If so, it should instead use whatever file lyrics I prefer. Sometimes the Roon lyrics are wrong like in this case and I should be able to replace them. And generally I detest timecode lyrics and may want to replace them with static ones. (In addition, it would be nice if there was a preference for not to display timecoded during playback in Now Playing. I always prefer static lyrics because I am not interested in karaoke and consider lyrics to be poems)

Yes and was never different AFAIK.

These are feature request then and therefore, I guess.

OK thanks

Seems to me that the inability to override them is a bug. “Don’t use incorrect lyrics without an option to change them although an option to change them exists already” is not a feature

The preference for never to use timecode lyrics in Now Playing would be a feature, I agree. Though I seem to remember that in the past it didn’t do that, but maybe I misremember

I reported the incorrect timecoded lyrics as a Metadata issue:

OK I found this, though really that shouldn’t be considered a feature
