I am on Roon Server 2.54 (build 1553) earlyaccess (64bit).
Running on dedicated Windows 11 i5 NUC with 8GB RAM.
About 10,000 local tracks on HDD or NAS. Plus Tidal.
This only happens since last update. It’s been fine for previous 6 months. No changes to my setup (except after this started I plugged my WiFi endpoints into ethernet instead in case it was a WiFi related issue… but it seems it is not).
Works fine for a while, then playback will just stop in the middle of a track.
Sometimes the client UI becomes unresponsive for a few seconds.
Sometimes the endpoint disappears and I am prompted to select one.
Eventually everything comes back but the playback is still paused.
Happens seemingly randomly every several minutes.
Happens on any endpoint/zone.
All my endpoints are now wired. No Wifi.
Update: I should add that today I have noticed that it appears to do this even if nothing is playing. Even with playback paused the UI will appear to show the current endpoint occasionally disappearing and then reappearig a few seconds later.
Thanks for reaching out and letting us know. Since you’re using earlyaccess, I will move this thread over to our early access category. In a related report, we’ve herad that disabling IPv6 can help with this behavior, can you kindly confirm if you are seeing the same issue on your end with IPv6 temporarily disabled?
IPv6 was already disabled on my router. That is the way I keep it.
There could still be IPv6 on my LAN somewhere; So…
I have just closed Roon Server on the server NUC, then disabled IPv6 on that PC (control panel/network and sharing centre/change adapter settings/ethernet/properties/Internet Protocol Version 6 (UNTICK THE BOX, then [OK]).
And then re-launched Roon server.
I played a Peter Gabriel Album from my desktop PC client, streaming to a wired endpoint (RoPieee) in this room.
It played for about 6 minutes and then stopped all by itself.
UPDATE: I pressed play and it continued, only to pause again two tracks later on the same album.
FURTHER UPDATE: I later disabled IPv6 on my PC desktop (Roon client, where I have been controlling Roon from) and that made no difference. It still paused again after another four tracks (still well before the end of the album).
I’ve also had similar today (didn’t play any music yesterday), music would stop/pause during playback, when checking Roon it would say “Find something to play”, then it would continue playing by itself, once from where it stopped, I believe at one time from a bit further into the same track. It also states I’ve only played a percentage of at least one of the tracks that stopped, then continued playing.
Added: Funny How Time … paused, then continued, but possibly not from the same place:
Do you think we can follow the progress here in this forum? Would be nice. Or at least a solved case status.
One of the issues for me is that when Roon finds the audio device (in my case KEF LS50 WII) it sets the volume to 100. Fortunately the music stops almost immediately but it scares the living sh.. out of me
