D200 is better than NEO, but not as good as for example Cyan 2. But the price of D200 is of course very reasonable as well.
I would like to ask about the Cyan 2, the UD-701N, and the D900 — which one has the best performance?“
D900 is slightly better in some aspects compared to Cyan 2. But it is limited to DSD256, so if you’d like for example DSD1024 with the AHM modulators, it is not possible with D900 while it is with Cyan 2.
UD-701N doesn’t get close to either one.
Has anyone measured the Luxsin x8, surely using it in bypass mode without EQ?
With that DAC chip you get indication about the Direct DSD mode by trying to play rates higher than DSD128, or possibly DSD256 in this case since they claim to support DSD512. If you can play the claimed DSD512, then you know for certain that it is not in Direct DSD mode.
Thank you for your reply.
I’d like to ask — is there any all-in-one DAC + AMP unit more powerful than the T+A HA200?
I’m thinking of getting the HA200, but I’m a bit hesitant since it’s a product from 4 years ago.
T+A SDV 3100 HV might ba an option
Regarding the R26II and DSD, 6moons wrote that the unit fed DSD direct sounded really good. At least that’s what I can decipher from the article…refer page 5 - R26²
HA200 is among the best discrete DSD DACs out there, it has the same DAC section as DAC200, but is a dedicated headphone amp instead of line output device.
I’m using it for development with the Solitaire P headphones.
I have listened to the T+A 3100HV and it is an outstanding DAC. I haven’t listened to the HA200 so I can’t give you a comparison.
Dan
Yes T+A makes good equipment. imho.
Has anyone compared DSD256 and DSD1024 on the Cyan 2 or T+A?
Is the difference significant?
Yes, they do sound different. IMO DSD256 is better on DAC200.
From technical/objective standpoint of view, also depends on what kind of modulator you use.
What is best at DSD256 is not best at DSD1024 and vice versa. This also makes it’s own difference apart from just rate. It is not a good idea to use same modulator for both, because the modulator needs to take into account how it works with together with the D/A conversion electronics involved.
The new DAC just hit the market — the N-05XE
The DAC section has been upgraded to the 2nd generation
But it seems it still doesn’t support DSD1024
(Though DSD1024 may not necessarily sound better?)
Not sure which software the network streaming section supports
Hi,
I’ve had my new DAC for a week now. In my opinion, it is one of the most ideal DACs for this topic. My music is stored on my server with Roon and HQPlayerd 5. The signal goes to this DAC via the Raspberry Pi with NAA. In HQPlayerd 5, I use the AHM7EC8B modulator with a bitrate of 48 x 1024 via SDM for this purpose. The DAC handles this perfectly. Furthermore, this DAC is a development based on Jussi’s DSC1. I had the T+A D200 at home since the beginning of this year, but it didn’t work well with my amplifier. XLR caused distortion on certain tracks. Furthermore, it sometimes sounded very restless, but also very dynamic and spatial.
To me, this new DAC sounds—subjectively!!!—very effortless and dynamic at the same time. The spatiality is tremendous. I am re-listening to all kinds of albums that had faded somewhat from my listening history. But anyway, these are all subjective observations. The DAC is made to order by Daudio in the Netherlands and, no, I am not receiving any reward for this; they don’t even know that I posted this message.
Here is a picture of this ‘simple-looking’ DAC:

Does this DAC have my means of receiving and decoding PCM or does it have to have HQPlayer in front of it?
Thanks for sharing, seems like an interesting design. Any pictures from inside or reviews online? I couldn’t find much information of it.
@Henry_McLeod Here’s the manufacturer website: dsddac - Daudio
Seems to support PCM also.
Cheers. My almost non existent Dutch does suggest it converts all PCM to DSD256 but on board re samplers are pretty much always inferior to HQPlayer.
This topic is about the ideal DAC for HQPlayer. Now, this DAC can also process PCM, but there might be better DACs available for this purpose. I haven’t tried it, because it works fantastically via HQPlayer/DSD, keeping PCM out of the picture. And yes, HQPlayer does the job, converting to SDM/DSD, excellently.
