BETA Release 2024.10

Hi,

Time for another beta release, here’s 2024.10!

This a rather small release, but I wanted stuff out anyway.

Most exiciting part (and here’s where I need some proper testing as well  ) is the return to a recent kernel on the Usbridge.

Remember: I’ve created a variant that uses an older kernel because 1) The Usbridge uses a ethernet chipset that is not properly supported in the kernel 2) Allo is out of business and is not able to update the driver.

But, the Usbridge is still a very beloved device (I own one myself) and I did another attempt to bring the driver to the latest kernel (that we’re using on the Pi’s). I’ve been listening to it all weekend and the results are very good from my experience. Would love to hear from some beta testers about this specifically.

Anyways, here’s the complete changelog:

  • NEW: latest kernel available for Allo Usbridge
  • IMPROVEMENT: update HQPlayer NAA component
  • IMPROVEMENT: update Linux kernel
  • IMPROVEMENT: add donation option ‘Buy Me a Coffee’
  • FIX: remove Spotify username/password fields

Enjoy!

Looking very much forward to see this out of beta because I hope the NAA update will address my crackling issues with my Cyan 2 DAC. I keep fingers crossed.

You could switch to the beta channel to see.

I updated my 5 RPIs (3x RPI 3 used with display and 2x RPI4 used for USB-output (Roon Bridge)).
All went well.
Thank you Harry for all the nice work.

It is not that much of an issue that I can not wait until this beta version is released to all.

So… any Usbridge testers over here?

I need some evidence before we can release this.

Hi - What were the HQP NAA improvements?

From the change log

Linux packages for NAA 5.0.2 has been released. These include minor improvements and support for Ubuntu 24.04 LTS “Noble”.

How do I get my USBridge onto Beta?

I changed the setting to Beta hit apply then “Configure” but its still on stable.

Just wait with patience, it can take many hours to update

Is 10 hours as enough?

Had to pull the plug on my USBridge as the web interface was blank this morning and it is still on stable.

Can you send me feedback?
