My albums seem to be multiplying in the library. Not all, but some. They are not parts of albums but are each the whole album, identified, and under "version" are the only one.
I tried manually fixing a few again but it just gets messed up again. Sigh!
I spent a few years away from Roon because my sound system was in storage as I moved and eventually built my new house. I remember it working flawless back in the day now it’s just gone down hill.
These compilation albums getting messed up automatically.
Terrible scrolling experience on iOS devices.
Performance issues and random stalls when browsing my library.
@benjamin It will certainly pop up again unless something was fixed in the new release (I gather not from the release notes). Did your folks manage to find anything during the time I was experiencing the issue?
@benjamin thanks but with almost 5,000 albums, I’ve never really been able to locate the ones that are duplicated. It’s just the number that keeps going up. Are you guys not able to get that from the logging you are doing on my server?
@benjamin - My Roon installation has been up for over a week with no album duplication. Are you aware of something that might have changed to fix this? I assume you probably don’t want me uploading such a document until I experience this issue again, correct?
BTW, in the past, such an export returned the correct number of albums. It was only the on-screen count that was wrong in Roon.
Something I hadn’t noticed before: when I saw the issues reappear yet again last night (which prompted my last response), I simply restarted Roon server on my ROCK and ignored Roon for the rest of the evening. This morning I check and it appears to have fixed the issues automagically. Next time, I’ll try the same. Still annoying but much less of a pain than manually fixing all of the split albums and duplicates.
My library fluctuates in much the same manner: every once in a while I have no problematic albums, then it’s two of them, then it’s a whole bunch more. At the moment I have 12 that are messed up, but I suspect that will change again at some point soon, and probably not for the better.
I think the problem is that the splitting can’t be fixed, at least not in any reliable sense, because they’re getting split by a bug in Roon, not by any deficit in metadata or for any of the other usual reasons. Until that bug is fixed the problem will recoccur.
I was regularly prone to this issue on multiple versions of the iPad Roon Remote and it does seem to be an issue with the “Sort By” field. One parameter that may influence the sort behaviour that has not been mentioned across several discussions is Settings>General>Languages for artist and album names.
My profile has multiple languages and whether it was the sort order of those languages, or the mere act of adjusting them, the issue immediately disappeared without any further action. I have not had a recurrence of the issue for several months.
Duplicity is only present when: Settings>General>Languages for artist and album names is in the same order as displayed in my previous post, or Settings>General>Album dates for sorting is Original release date
Well, issues came up again. Restarted Roon server software on my ROCK last night. 12 hours after restart and the split compilations haven’t been resolved. I guess the restart solution doesn’t actually work as I had hoped. Back to manually fixing.
Wouldn’t it be wonderful if Roon actually fixed this bug? I think so. I seriously would’ve moved on from Roon if I hadn’t purchased a lifetime license and find myself without a ready replacement.
IMO you should always have an alternative, if you have a lifetime license and feel you need to persevere with Roon long-term, why not consider using something else to listen to music until it’s fixed?
