I checked permissions and user and roonserver have read/write access to the folder on the NAS. I tried a different admin user same error. Turned off tailscale same issue.

I think this is the likely issue; Roon doesn’t have access to the storage location.

Thats really weird , gave roonserver acces via system internal user read/write.

is there something im missing ?

You just can’t add a network share in Roon anymore with DSM7 (using the RoonServer package). Use DSM if you really have to connect to a network share on another machine. Then point Roon to the local folder you mapped the network share to in DSM.

Don’t use a network share to connect to a local folder.

That is for local folders. So it looks like you’re setup already, now just point Roon at that local folder.

Thats the thing . thats not working. Trying to direct my roonbackup to that folder. but getting unexpected errors.

If Roon Server runs on the DS220+ and the folder you want to add is also on the DS220+ then don’t try to add a network share, just add the local folder.
