This was never an issue when I ran the Roon server on my NUC.

This is supposed to not work when running the RoonServer package on DSM7:

Roon on DSM 7: Backup fails

The issue here is probably, that apps on DSM7 can’t establish network connections (to strengthen security of your Diskstation). What you can do is establish the network mount in FileStation.
