Can't seem to install ROON Rock Codecs properly

I am not an IT expert, but managed to install Roon Rock on an Intel Nuc. Everything works fine and I am able to play Roon on all my endpoints. I also manage to identify and copy the ffmmpeg files - in order to install the missing Codecs. However, I fail to get to the Rock data file that ROON OS is supposed to expose, in order to install the missing Codecs. I have followed the instructions. However, when I go to the root (network) of File Explorer and type in \Rock\ it says Rock is not accessible. You might not have permission to use this network resource.

Welcome to the Roon community, @Christo_van_der_Merw.

I have moved your post to the #support category, since this is where requests for assistance belong.

I am assuming you use Windows. Therefore, from Explorer, chose “Add Network Locations” and type smb://rock/data or smb://rock.local/data.

I tried the suggestion, but neither of them works. See the screen shot of the right hand screen.

try a username of guest with no password?

Are you logged into a corporate network? It’s looking for a domain controller

Is that a typo, you did mean \\Rock\ as shown below…

What version of Windows are you using?

The forum software eats the first backslash when you write two, because it is also an escape character.
To see two, you’d need to write three, but barely anyone does or notices the need

Sorry, here is a better screen shot of where I got stuck.

I am using Windows 10 Enterprise

I am using Windows 10

You use Windows File Explorer to access the Roon OS Network Share - not a web browser

I do not understand what you suggest that I must do.

In Windows File Explorer, try typing \\rock\ into the Address field directly… If it doesn’t work, please show a screenshot of the error message you get…

I suspect that because you are using Windows 10 Enterprise, you need to enable SMBv1 networking - Microsoft has recently disabled “guest” access for SMB…

Did you see my PM to you

SMB1 is not necessary because Rock supports SMB2, but you’re right that “insecure guest logins” may have to be enabled. We have been through this in lengthy threads

Yes, thanks, but that I get the impression the issue is not a typo.

That was just my response in this thread to you. I was referring to a private message sent directly to you on the forum. Look for a green dot maybe near your icon in the top right.

To all, my PM was about insecure guest logins along with a link to a fix

Indeed - and I can’t find one at the moment; can you help? :slightly_smiling_face:

Thanks. I have to confess I am out of my depth here. I will have to get somebody who knows how to enable the SMB2 settings that you refer to.
