Problem Description, in the discography of Cat Power:
the Qobuz version of the album “Wanderer” is shown, whilst selecting albums in My Library, my digital download version is shown (this is correct, Qobuz version should not be shown)
Both my digital download version and the Qobuz version of the album "Cat Power Sings Dylan are shown. In Credits these are exactly the same - same label, same catalog number.
Extra remarks:
I have no Qobuz versions of albums in My Library (1 exception, confirming the rule)
What makes it counter-intuitive for me to first have to check for albums in My Library to avoid playing Qobuz versions. Versions in My Library are (should be !!!) local copies)
In case anyone wonders, I have ‘Show hidden tracks and albums disabled’.
Why is this the Qobuz version? It does not show the Qobuz badge. You marked the “in library” badge. In my library its’ the Qobuz version, note the badge:
Again, how so? It shows only the in-library badge in your screenshot. (As it does in my screenshot. I have the local files and the Qobuz version in the library, but the local files are the primary version)
Your music links are in your Roon library. That includes all local files and those you have linked from Tidal and/or Qobuz if you have a subscription.
When you click on a performers discography, you see all music (or most) that performer has recorded. That’s not a picture of your Roon library.
When looking at discography, if you click the little “library” ICON that looks like some books, you will just see the artists discography that is also in your Roon library.
For Bob Dylan, there is some difference that it thinks it discovers, rightly or wrongly. It was the same for me, and it’s not the only album where this happens. You have to group them manually, but you can only do so if the Qobuz one is in your library.
In your second screenshot, you haven’t clicked the „show library“ button, so it shows the whole discography of the artist, just like @Jim_F explained.
I don’t use a streaming service anymore, but when I did I noticed an occasional discrepancy between local library versions and Qobuz versions. Normally Roon will identify local library versions and Qobuz versions as 2 versions of the same album. This is happening with Wanderer and The Greatest, Occasionally though, that doesn’t happen. Occasionally the Qobuz version is not linked to the local library version. This means that 2 versions of the same album show up in the Discography - essentially Roon isn’t detecting that they’re the same album.
As I said, I did experience this on a number of occasions, normally with newer releases.
The Greatest is show in the Discography without “My Library” focus, it’s in your second screenshot. But, yes, there’s lots of weird behaviour going on. I’m glad I don’t stream anymore!!!
I understand it is working for you - at this moment in time!
It is not for me. Tomorrow morning it will, or not ??
On my iPad the Jukebox album is presented correctly.
On my Windows 11 laptop it is not at this moment.
I would like to just see all the albums in the Discography, and all the albums in My Library on any of my Remotes.
Without scratching my head why an album I know has disappeared.
I love Roon, but it is becoming quite frustrating that many (albeit) minor issues are interrupting enjoying music using it.
But why am I missing 1 (one) album and do I need to reboot my PC (acting as a Roon Remote) to get it back.
If I would be missing ALL albums I would get it something went wrong with the actual PC, and reboot it. Just 1 album ???
I can clear this up. For reasons unknown to me at this time, the Qobuz (streaming) album is not equivalenced to the main group (which your local copy is matched to), so it appears as – to all intents and purposes – a completely different album. I’ll look into why this is happening.
I’m not sure why you are seeing “disappearing albums”.
