Describe the issue
Roon Core Kit is installed on a NUC i7 (32mb mem, 256Gb SSD and 8Tb storage. Roon remote installed on iMac (27-inch, i7, 2020), MacBook Air M1, a couple of iOS devices, FiiO M11 and two Windows 11 laptops. The latest versions of programs (build 1470) are installed. NUC and iMac are wired (1 Gb), NUC has a permanent IP Address, no VPN/anti-viruses. The problem occurred after upgrading macOS to version 15. Once the connection to Roon Core Kit is broken for any reason, it is impossible to reconnect. Remote sees the server, but the connection status is always “connecting”. iOS, Android and Windows devices work quite well. Uninstalling and reinstalling Roon remote has helped a couple of times, but now this method stopped working.
macOS 15 messed up security settings for quite many people. Lots of threads about this on the forum. Try this, it usually helps:
Navigate to macOS System Settings > Privacy & Security > Local Network , and make sure Roon is allowed. If it is already enabled, toggle it off and on again. Then reboot your Mac, and see if the same issue persists.
I don’t know what exactly helped, but after soft reinstalling and wire reconnecting remote could establish a connection.
Now it will work until another connection failure (on my network this happens from time to time when a large amount of information is copied e.g. backup to NAS).
Logs are uploaded.
Crashes happen when there is a lot of traffic on the network (Roon’s playing, my wife’s watching 4K movie on ATV, backing up to NAS in parallel). This does not happen often. I don’t think Roon is the reason for the drop specifically.
It very well could be due to limited network bandwidth within your local network. What make and model router are you currently using? You may be able to access the router settings and allocate network priority to your ROCK, which may help with dropouts when other items are active outside of using Roon.
The next time it happens, take note of the date, time, and name of track playing - we’ll be able to better examine a fresh diagnostic report from your Roon Server. Thank you!
Perhaps, but I still suppose that the reason is specifically due to some incompatibility of the Mac version with last Sequoia. My network went down before, but Roon was always restored a connection to core without any problem. All problems started after upgrade to Sequoia. All other clients (Windows/iOS/Android) still reconnect without problems.
My router is SERCOMM RV6699, and I made priority setting to Roon when I was setting ARC.
Copy that. Looking forward to the next drop. So far a complete reinstallation of Roon on mac coupled with reinstalling operating system on nuc has saved the day.
