Describe the issue

Many of the same albums are displayed.

I use Roon Rock and when I view the album list on my iPhone or Mac app, or wherever I view it from, I see multiple identical albums. There are no different versions, no differences in sound quality, they are exactly the same.

It seems that Roon recognises them as the same thing, so when you select one album, the same album is selected at the same time.

Also, I use TIDAL and Qobus, but for some reason a number of albums are only marked as one of them in the album view, even though I have them in my library on both.

How can this be resolved?

After restarting roon rock, the display anomalies disappeared. Sorry for the trouble.

It’s a returning problem. A fix is under way.

This is a long-known issue and there’s a likely fix for it in Early Access testing, which seems to work for me so far.

This is only temporary, most likely some duplicates (and usually others) will appear again later. Let’s hope the EA fix is real.

Thank you very much. I see that this is a known issue. I hope it will be fixed soon.

Hi @Satoshi_Aoyagi,

Thank you for the report and we’re sorry to see that this persistent bug has reared its head in your database as well.

What you’re encountering is an anomaly related to Roon’s background indexing. This issue is highly specific to the library’s database and file structure/taxonomy, so it’s proven arduous to reproduce in-house. As such, we’ve released a series of fixes over the last few weeks to adjust the behavior preceding the triggers of the anomaly. We’re quite confident in this most recent fix, which has now been rolled out to a public Roon update in build 1528.

Please update your RoonServer to the latest build and let us know if this issue returns over the next several days. We’ll of course keep this thread open.

Mine is still looking find AFAICT, by the way :+1:

@connor not fixed in my house. Sorting artist A - Z showing wrong amount of albums on iPad and iPhone

Hmmm, right:

After selecting all, it shows 3033 selected.

I am scrolling through them and now at 50% have not seen (noticed) any duplicates though

@connor

@connor, I found lots of dupes after all. They are hard to spot because they are all over the place:

The Camerón de la Isla album here is listed in the correct spot, at the letter “I”. Note the others around there, the letters “I” and then “J”.

I have two versions in my library, and there are several more Qobuz and Tidal versions:

When I scrolled past that, I saw that the mp3 and the Qobuz in-library version were shown separately (although I have version grouping enabled), and so I selected them both and did “Group alternate versions”.

Then I continued scrolling and got to the letter “M”, when suddenly it restarts with artists with “E” (Missy Elliott has the sort order “Elliott, Missy”):

This continues with “E” through “I” (all of these albums were already shown further up in their correct spots), where we find Camerón de la Isla again, this time still shown as ungrouped:

Continuing with the letters “I” through “L” until we reach “M” again, all seen before:

and then more "M"s, which were previously not yet seen, and then further to N, etc.

I wanted to range-select all the duplicated ones from the wrong Missy Elliott until the “Ms” restart again further down, but of course this doesn’t work because as usual all the originals further up get selected, too, and everything in between.

EDIT: This is incredibly hard to screenshot and explain because every time I scroll through, it seems to look different. I notice that the letter at the scroll handle also seems to get confused:

Here I scrolled, using the handle, to what I think is the “real” letter M area:

Then I scroll farther and then lower letters repeat, e.g, suddenly we are at F again"

Then I scroll farther and there are more “M”:

EDIT 2:

I have restarted the Roon Server and the dupes are gone

Good scrolling jobb. I’m giving up scrolling and just watching the numbers rise.

I added more findings, above. I think we’ll have to upload our databases.

Edit: I have uploaded my zipped backup as requested in the other thread,
