Hey Everyone,
In this Early Access, we continued working on overall client stability and performance issues. Along with fixing several bugs for both Roon and Roon ARC clients
Performance optimizations
Our dev team spent some time optimizing RoonServer performance by fixing issues caused by browsing content and by using multiple remotes connected to the same RoonServer, which slowed RoonServer after several days of active usage. One of the key changes in that area is that disconnecting and reconnecting a remote should now correctly release resources used by that remote. We’d appreciate feedback here as we plan to continue active work in this area.
Scrolling improvements
For the Roon Remote app running on Mobile devices, we’ve tuned how the app requests display refresh rates during scrolling. Finger-drag scrolling now boosts to 120Hz (on capable devices), matching the smoothness of fling/momentum scrolling, for a more consistently fluid feel throughout the whole scroll gesture. No change on Windows or macOS clients.
Along with that, we’ve also attempted to address an issue which caused problems when scrolling up long lists in the Roon app, i.e. in the Compositions browser. This bug was present across all platforms and should now be resolved. Please let us know if the user experience has improved.
Bugfixes
We’ve improved the reliability of Live Radio playback: the bug which caused certain HLS streams to lag behind the actual stream has finally been addressed. Additionally, we’ve resolved issues a couple of other minor issues in Roon, for example, the one with CRC-protected MP3 files, which were previously displayed as corrupted, and several UI issues.
For Roon ARC users, we’ve tackled several playback bugs, including those affecting classical compositions, playlist interactions and state related to the Download functionality.
Your feedback is crucial in refining these updates, so don’t hesitate to share your findings!
