Hello @Andrew_Turley

Thank you for contacting Roon Support.

It looks like you’re encountering the recently discovered issue with disappearing devices, which we’ve documented here:

Audio devices disappear on Roon Server and then re-appear - Roon investigating

I’ve asked my team to enable an additional diagnostic layer on your account. Once this is in place, I’ll follow up with you here and ask that you restart your Roon Server a few times so the diagnostics can take effect. After that, I’ll provide you with the next steps.

@vadim,

Still getting the issue despite restarts. Any progress on a fix for this? thanks.

Looking forward to the fix. Even just a roll-back to the previous vers would be good. It has been rock-solid for me prior to the last update 2.55 (build 1559).

I’m getting more and more grey-outs “waiting for your Roon Server” happening over the last day or two, and another weird glitch i’ve noticed: in the blue recent activity box, switching between ‘added’ and ‘played’ switches the albums but ‘added’ stays bold and underlined. Never done that before!

@vadim

I’ll keep my comments to my own support thread, but with no changes to anything else in the system/setup, the roon app on my computer (mac) and phone (ios) frequently cycles through the grey screen ‘waiting for your roon server’ message even without music playing. I can see the app doing it over and over again. the roon server is hardwired into the network, device are wireless.

Just tried again at 2:30pm NZT, started playing a track and within a minute or so, it stopped, the endpoint dropped off and then returned with the music paused. and it’s dropped off again twice in the time it’s taken me to type this. Can we just go back to a previous stable build?

It’s worth noting that it never used to do this. until the recent update, it was fine.

Hey @Andrew_Turley,

Thank you for the updates! We’ve enabled some additional diagnostics that should help uncover additional errors that the previous fix may have missed.

We very much appreciate your ongoing patience here! :folded_hands:

@benjamin

Have tried playing Roon out to an airplay output instead this morning, and still getting constant interuptions where the music stops, “looking for roon server” pops up, and a second later it reconnects and continues.

Is something being done about this? I have previously used Roon daily, but now it’s entirely unreliable and I’m still paying for it!?!

Hi @Andrew_Turley,

Do you run into the same issue playing only from the system output of one of your remote devices?

As I mentioned previously, our development team is already looking into this issue and working on a fix. We’re appreciative of your ongoing patience here, and will update you with more information once it becomes available.

Thank you! :+1:

It’s seemingly getting worse, I get waiting for your room server constantly, then the “oh oh…” message, It drops out constantly, cannot get through a single song without issue. When the app does load my library, which takes ages now with the “waiting…” message, I can only scroll through a few screens worth before it freezes and goes back into the “waiting…” loop…

Agree with Rkj, this is dragging on, and at least rolling back to an earlier build would make the software useable again.

Can we please get an indication of the intended fix?

@benjamin - things are more stable tonight!?! Not sure if it’s jsut got through some hard background indexing or something, but the interface is loading faster and i’ve been playing tracks without anything randomly stopping. Cautiously optimistic, but still confused!

@bejamin - but this morning it’s doing it again, sudden stop in a track and then jumped to the next track and started playing again. a new behaviour but still incredibly frustrating…

Good day @Andrew_Turley !

Thanks for keeping us posted.

Can you please confirm whether except random track skips you still have an original problem ?

Also, can you please take the logs from your Roon Server (

) and upload them to our Logs Storage:
https://workdrive.zohoexternal.com/collection/8i5239cc05950ac07456889838d9319545a82/external
?

Thanks!

Looking forward to your reply!

Regards.

thanks @alex_h - i’ve uploaded the diagnostics report from my Antipodes server at the link provided.

Good day @Andrew_Turley !

Thanks for sharing that piece of logs. It had only 1 file, but no worries, it looks like automatic reporting now works back as it supposed to.

Can you please reproduce the issue and share with us the time stamp (time + date) of when it happened and the name of the song that was playing ?

Thanks!

Regards.

@alex_h - Today, 11:42am NZT. Track: Cow Cud Is A Twin - Aphex Twin - track stopped, “waiting for roon server” and then comes back online, but track didn’t restart. paused at the point it dropped off.

again at 12:04pm NZT. Track: Everything you do is a balloon - Boards of Canada. but this time, a quick drop-out and then continued to play. These are all locally stored files too. FLAC/ALAC or WAV

again at 12:17pm NZT. Track: Most of the Time - Bob Dylan. And once again, like I have every day for the past two weeks… I am giving up on Roon being anywhere near reliable enough. While still paying for it…

Hi @Andrew_Turley,

Thanks for the updates! Our team is still working on a potential follow-up fix to help users who are still experiencing issues after our initial release.

Progress is moving along nicely, so we should have something to share with you soon - we very much appreciate your ongoing patience here.

It’s unclear if you tested playback via the system output of your Mac, but that might be a more stable playback source while we continue to work on things.
