Thanks for the update. For a next step, we’ll need to investigate your NAS logs. Specifically, there is a file included in the Roon log package called RoonOnNAS.log.txt.
You can use the directions found here, or can download your logs by clicking the "Ambulance " button:
I think that i have found the problem and @BlackJack pointed me in the right direction.
I completely uninstalled Roon on the NAS, I enabled again the “admin” account and then I reinstalled Roon. The core is working and the control panel is opening as expected:
But, If I switch back to the user that I generally use as an admin (and that it is not called “admin” but is included in the administrators group), the control panel does not work:
If possible, can you please attempt to reproduce the issue and share a more specific date and time of when the issue occurs? We have scanned the log file you sent over and are not seeing any errors in line with the control panel.
From that time, as soon I switched to another user with admin credentials, the admin panel returned the error every time I try to open it.
I don’t know what the Roon server puts in the log but the issue is definitely tied to the user: if it is the default “admin”, it works; if it is a different user with admin credentials, if does not.
I mean, if you have a QNAP NAS, it should be not so hard to reproduce the behavior locally.
I have two QNAP NAS using a different admin account and I do not have any issues. Are you sure your new admin account has full read/write permission for your folders?
I also have two QNAP NAS. One NAS (production) is in use for years, the other NAS was unused. On both NAS when I install firmware V 4.x, everything works just fine. As soon as I install firmware 5.x I get the not logged in error.
I tested on both NAS to downgrade from firmware 5.x to 4.x and then it works fine. I do the upgrade again and it does not work anymore. On the production NAS I uninstall ROON and install again but after that I tou cannot configure ROON anymore so I had to downgrade it again, configure it and after upgrade it again.
On both NAS I use the Admin account, So search me…
In an effort to keep better track of this issue, I’ve merged a few existing threads into this thread, which we’ll use as the primary tracking thread moving forward. I will also make sure @crieke has been tagged in this, as he leads the charge on running Roon with NAS.
I appreciate all of the community-based troubleshooting done so far - it’s been extremely helpful! We have a ticket in with development on the matter, but I do want to set proper expectations in that the fix isn’t something that will come immediately. I do apologize for this.
I will keep everyone up to speed when new information is provided to me. In the meantime, the known workarounds are to either:
Downgrade to the last firmware version
Enable the default admin account on your NAS and perform a fresh install of Roon while logged into the admin account’s environment.
Thanks for your continued patience in the meantime.
Can you explain what you mean by ‘completely’ uninstall Roon? I am having the same problem since updating to QNAP firmware QTS 5.1.2.2533 a few days ago. I only use the default admin account (no other users - bad practice I know) and have removed and reinstalled Roon but still get the same problem as described at the start of this thread re the Control Panel ‘Not logged in’ message. I did downgrade to an earlier version and the Control Panel re-appeared but I’d rather keep my NAS firmware up to date so have re-installed the latest version noted above.
Both Roon and ARC still seem to continue work fine and I almost never enter the Control Panel anyway, so I’m just going to live with it. However, there does seem to be a conflict somewhere with the latest QTS firmware and hopefully it can be resolved in case Control Panel access is required in future.
That said, if there are some specific steps to ‘completely’ uninstall Roon that I am missing then please advise. Apologies if these steps are buried somewhere in this thread and I’ve missed it.
For info, setup as below:

Description of Issue
Roon Control Panel shows “Not logged in” message, so unable to access Roon Control Panel on NAS. All other functionality appears to be as normal.
This issue was preliminarily discussed last year. At that time, only by letting QNAP log in first with the admin account could the Roon management interface be displayed normally. If you change to another username with admin group permissions, an error message appears.
@benjamin,
May I ask when the official can fix this issue? It’s been a year and the program has not been updated!
