Thomas I see now thank you for clarifying.
If the Eversolo shares it’s drive with CIFS/SMB then you should be able to add.it to Roon and make it available. How well that works is a different question

Are we playing Simon say’s or Snap
I’m debating if the Master Edition is worth it if going out via spdif? I guess it would utilise the better clock and have potential for less jitter? But it’s considerably more when I won’t be using its
DAC.
It is not just “a” network hop. Roon processes all music through the Core and then sends it out. So, if you used storage ON the Eversolo the net effect would be, stream music from the Eversolo TO the Roon Core. Roon Core processes it into a much larger PCM file and then sends that BACK to the Eversolo.
This adds a bunch of back and forth network traffic, especially since we are talking about near real-time processing. Which is why the advice on Roon setups has been always for the music files to be local to the Core.
Can you get both and return one
I would be surprised if it was significantly better with SPDIF or Toslink though.
I have honestly stopped looking at the moment
I’m not getting a Wiim I know that much.
I probably wouldn’t a WIIM Pro for myself either (but it’s a good enough device for the money and my son will be very happy with his moving from an ever less reliable CCA)
I think personally speaking as a starter I would be looking at the Eversolo or the MA Mini-I Pro 4 (or non pro depending on needs for a Headphone output and WiFi) based on my excellent experience with MA and the growing reputation of Eversolo.
Both in a reasonable price range as well
I don’t need headphone out I’ve got two with this new setup both have dedicated head amps to not tried them as it’s too far away to be used without danger of trip hazards. My cd player has one it even has a gain setting and it’s own little volume control. I love Marantzs little touches.
Yes they do look very nice
Definitely worth trying the Eversolo if you struggle to get other options to work reliably
Matrix don’t seem to be available in UK yet so Eversolo likely the option. It also looks like a sturdy component and the screen will be viewable from listening position the Matrix being so small a display I fear would be wasted on me from such a distance.
MA Not Roon Ready yet either from memory.
I would be surprised if you are unhappy with the Eversolo based on reviews.
Thanks, I learned new things here.
I found the storage via smb and if I understand it right the ssd-storage is more if you use Eversolos player , not Roon.
And it’s better to put my library on a separate harddisk via usb to the Nuc computer that runs Rock core.
Thanks again
I threw an album’s worth of files into the eversolo’s drive, and I was able to connect the storage location to roon. Not too hard, but gotta have the right path…
So in roon, add a network path
Enter:
smb://dmp_samba/Share/Music [or whatever folder you want]
Roon finds it right away, and you can use that location for whatever you want.
It is super tempting, I will admit, to add a 4TB MMC to the unit and have that be the main storage location. But I think it would be good ONLY if that’s your only endpoint. If you have other endpoints, it makes less sense as they have to go to the eversolo to get the files. But maybe it’s just fine. Ahdunno.
Well, i picked one up, No setup at all. Just works. Sweeeeeet. Has a little adhesive magnet to attach to the underside of my KLH 5 frame.

I am deciding between the base model and Master Edition too, but in my case it would be outputting via RCA to my Pioneer Elite AVR to be set to “Pure Audio” mode so no additional processing will be done by AVR.
How does one decide if Master Edition is worth the upgrade if there is no side-by-side listening to see which one is better?
I am on the fence with this also. Just for this additional chipset replacement, that is a $400 increase. Is this really worth it? I think that there might be a slight benefit, but I cannot justify the cost difference.
I plan on using it thru the XLR in a dedicated stereo setup.

Does anyone have an opinion as to whether I would see any audible benefit of using the HDMI of the DMP-A6 instead of using the HDMI out of my PC Roon Core? The HDMI out of my PC is a mid-level Nvidia GEForce card with dedicated memory for processing.
Beware that many have reported that Roon will not detect changes in network folders even if it says ‘Watching for new files in real time’.
interesting.
Yeah, my main library is attached to the core, so haven’t experienced that issue.
Not gonna move the library to the eversolo, but it’s an interesting thought.
Just pulled the plug and purchased the DMP-A6 from Amazon. Not the Master Edition. August 16th delivery date.
