EverSolo DMP-A6

From what I’ve seen, they both use the same switching power supplies.

Also read that the upgrades to the Masters Edition are higher level clocks and op amps on the DAC side, so if you are only going to use it as a streamer “transport” then the standard edition should be the same.

Last night I putzed around with upsampling to DSD 256 in Roon (rather than just to 192 PCM like I’ve always done…)

I went USB from the Eversolo to my Matrix X-SPDIF 2, then I2S to the Pontus II. That sounded pretty great.

@ terzinator

What I think I understand about this device is that there is Tidal streaming built in plus Tidal connect plus Tidal thru Roon.

Wondering if you have Tidal and have made comparisons with each setup?

i have used tidal connect, and airplay, and a few other things.

But I haven’t done any comparisons with sound quality or anything. Was just to see how easy/hard it was to connect via all the various protocols/services.

It’s very easy.

I am selling my DMP A6 on eBay right now. I can say that I loved the sound of it, a little bright at times, but in the end, I’m sticking with my Roon set up and my Pontus II. I fell for the old trap, buying the next best thing. But, Roon is just too good.

what is your roon setup?

I mean, i have made the Eversolo part of my roon setup.

The A6 is Roon Ready, the Pontus isn’t so this statement doesn’t even make sense. Your Pontus can be used with the A6 but I’d sell the Pontus and just keep the A6.

ALL HYPE? Eversolo DMP-A6 review (vs. FiiO R7, Bluesound Node X)

yeah, good review by Darko. Slightly click-baity headline, but still, a good watch.

The FiiO unit has the ability to upgrade the power supply, which gives it an edge.

Its about use case. If you looking for something to go in a rack and not need headphones nor bothered about every app under the Sun the Eversolo is the best bet as it looks like a piece of Hifi Gear. The R7 doesnt look like a piece of Hifi gear and its design is for a very specific use case, its not really designed to go in with other gear due to its height, although it can and be put on top of the rack I guess,

I just installed the DMP, and so far love it. I noticed, though, that Roon only sees it if it is on. If I don’t shut the unit off, will it stay on? Is there any downside to doing this?

It uses more power if on and unused as it has no network standby like a lot products and Roon cannot control the power like it can in a lot of Roon Ready devices to turn it on/off.

So, if I understand correctly, the only downside is that it will use power? I’d just as soon leave it on.

Welp, I tried to install Neil Young Archives, which offers 192/24 for much of the catalog:

I successfully installed it to the unit, but when I try to it, it tells me that no network is connected. Well, obviously it is (I have ethernet). It just did not work. I can stream from the NYA app to the Eversolo, but it’s not high-res. Any ideas?

It will use power whilst it’s on and not doing anything. Off is completely off no power consumption it doesn have a standby mode like most devices do. It’s off or on.

Is it actually whitelisted service on the Eversolo?

Not sure what you mean here by whitelisted. It’s not pre-loaded…

If the app is not whitelisted by Eversolo (in other words: not officially approved and/or tested by Eversolo) there is no guarantee it will work.

Yup. It didn’t. It showed up on the unit and the app, but immediately asked for a network connection (even though I’m connected to ethernet)

saw your post on the Hoffman forum… do you have a screenshot of this?

Yes: First is this:

If I hit settings, I get this:

If I hit “ethernet”, I get this:

Thanks for any help here! NYA would be a perfect fit for this device. I emailed them, but don’t expect any help; they only seem to support BluOs
