· I get the error message "audio stream format not supported" in the skipped files list for one 3-disc album in FLAC format. These files play just fine in VLC and other software. File names conform to conventional rules and do not differ from the rest of my library. I have tried re-encoding the files with DBPowerAmp and have forced a rescan. All to no avail. I suspect a codec problem, but have no way of finding out. Thanks for any advice you can provide.

· Nokia router modem on fibre cable; 3 gigabit switches; 3 TP-link deco wireless mesh points. All working just fine.
I will look into that. Right now, I don’t have access to my desk pc with VLC on it.
Thanks for pointing this out. At least then I’ll know what codec is being used. Will let you know.
Could you please upload one album or a few tracks to our "media storage so we could have a look at your track on our side and find if there is an issue with track itself ?
We’ll be best equipped to diagnose what’s wrong if you’re able to provide our team with an affected FLAC file using the secure link @alex_h shared above. If you’ve already uploaded a track, can you please confirm the artist/track title so we can clarify that we’re inspecting the right media content?
In the meantime, for due diligence, do you notice any missing codecs in the RoonOS Web Admin page per @bearFNF’s comment above?
Hi Connor and everyone else weighing in here, it’s appreciated.
First the meantime questions: no, the RoonOS web admin page reports no errors or missing codecs. And yes, other local FLACs play just fine.
Unfortunately, I hit another snag in that my desktop PC had to go in for repair today, so I can’t send in one of the offending FLACs right now (I have do all this on my tablet) but as soon as it comes back I’ll follow this up! Please bear with me!
Oh, and by the way, I may already have the fmmpg file on my desktop as it is also used in my subtitling software. So I can probably just copy it over to Roon Data once my PC is back.
When you’re able to access your PC again, please upload one of the affected FLAC files using the link Alex provided and post a quick note here so we know it’s ready for review. That will let us inspect the file directly and see what’s preventing Roon from decoding it.
We’ll pick this up as soon as the sample is available.
Okay, PC up and running again. I successfully downloaded, unpacked and installed ffmpeg to the Codecs folder of my Nucleus and rebooted the Nucleus. Then forced a rescan. But no, it hadn’t helped one bit. Roon still doesn’t list the album in My Library and still says “audio stream format not supported”. So I have uploaded two tracks to the address you provided and am curious to hear what you may find.
I did load a file into VLC and looked at the codec info, but there was none. Actually, VLC didn’t display any info on the file except its path and name.
Try and convert to a more common sampling rate (44.1 kHz, 48 kHz and power of 2 multiples thereof) instead.
PS: Roon also only supports integer bit depths of 16 bits, 24 bits and 32 bit.
No point in trying 18 bits or 20 bits because its “good enough” and /or “saves space”.
