Hi,
I apologize in advance if my question has already been answered somewhere. But I’m totally lost in those threads. When controlling the Roon app via iPhone 13 ProMax (latest iOS) and iPad Pro (latest iOS), if the devices go into “stand-up” mode, the Roon Remonte app freezes. I have to completely turn it off on the devices and then restart it for it to work. Subsequently, after some time, a few minutes, the freezing will be repeated. Please take into account that I am not an IT “maniac” and I am just a user.
Can you please advise me where the problem may be and especially how to eliminate it?
Thanks in advance for your advice.
The app freezes with the iPhone SE (17.2). However, if I set the “Prevent screen shutdown” switch to On under Settings/System, the problem is solved.
Hello, even after 6 days, nobody competent from ROON LAbs company is responding???
So again, the Roon control app on my iPhone 13 ProMax (latest iOS) and iPad Pro (latest iOS), if the devices go into stand-up mode, the Roon Remonte app freezes. So that I can use the app on the iPhone or To use the iPad, I have to drop the app completely and then let it work and I could control Roon. If the iPhone, iPad devices go to stand by mode and I start the Roon app again, the application freezes. The music is playing but I can’t control anything.
I’m asking for help again. Thank you for understanding
It doesn’t.
This issue is being covered in a different thread where support have been active. Remote crashes silently and appears to be still running but it won’t actually do anything and won’t load non cached pages or artwork. A restart clears it.
@moderators is it worth merging this with the other threads I had my own ticket which has some activity and the one posted above. They all seem to showing similar symptoms of iOS behaviour.
In here right?

Synchronized posting, good job
I just got the update so I’m going to try it.
the update for iPhone Roon Version 2.0 (build 1357) went successfully and app freezing has not occurred yet. The update for iPad is not yet available in the AppStore and the iPad is running unupdated on Roon Version 2.0 (build 1352). Roon Rock runs on Roon Server Version 2.0 (build 1357)
So I tried on an iPhone with the new update Roon Version 2.0 (build 1357) and after a long time, Roon remonte froze. I had to completely “drop” it and restart it to be able to control Roon again. Please is there any solution for this?
Can you please post your findings in the main thread for this issue, support are active on that one on this issue.
I’m sorry, but I don’t understand what “main thread” is and I don’t even know where to find it.
The fact is that even after updating the iPhone and iPad app Roon Remonte does not work as it should. After a while (it is not possible to define the exact time) it freezes. The music is playing, but it is not possible to control any functions via the Roon Remonte app.
So please try to navigate me where to post, but above all, let someone write how to eliminate this problem! I have been writing the same thing here for a week and there is no God who would write to me that the error can be removed or sorry but we have not come up with anything about this error!
thank you for your understanding and I believe that finally someone from the competent people will write something meaningful.
There is a link further up that I posted. If you post in there then support will have something more to go on.
Hello
it’s not specific to Apple, Android remotes face same issue.
Thanks for your patience while our team works through each thread! As a good next step, could you please reproduce the issue, and then send over a set of Roon logs from the affected device, please use the directions found here and send over a set of logs to our File Uploader?
With that, if you could share the date and time of the crash, that would be helpful as well. Thank you!
Hi,
I have some time to work on the Roon problem again. as I wrote back in December 2023, I am just a user and not an IT maniac. Your recommendation on how to publish some logs is probably beyond my power without the help of an IT person. The description of the problem is in the thread above and if you read it carefully there is no need for me to write you the same information again! We have been writing here for a month and there is no result. I’m not the only one having the same problems with Roon remonte freezing on iphone, ipad…
So I am once again asking you for instructions on what needs to be done on my part to eliminate the problem. what have you done as a company that I paid for a ROON product that does not perform the functions I purchased.
Thanks for the early reply and I will be glad to receive information on how to remove the Roon remonte freezing problems.
Have a nice day
The Roon team posted an update in another related thread:
Thanks, I’ll check it out.
So again I had some time over the weekend to devote myself to non-essential things around ROON.
I looked at the recommendation that the problem is solved in another thread:
"So I backed up my Roon server (Windows 11). Uninstalled Roon and settings. Reinstalled. and set up the server/core from the backup.
I noticed now that Roon Server gets its own exe and it seems to start up independently from the Roon GUI.
My issues with Roon losing the connection to the server on app/screen timeout on my iOS devices are resolved.
I don’t know if the updates in December put my instance of Roon in a bad state, or if something else changed, but this simple uninstall reinstall has resolved the issues I was having with Roon Server on Windows 11."
Am I to understand that this is an official response from the Roon team via some Roon user???
There really isn’t anyone normal here who can tell me what to do to make it work??? I’m starting to lose most of the patience I have.
I don’t think so, as far as I recall this was a Roon user who found a workaround for their specific scenario, which may or may not work for everyone.
As far as I know, the official response is the one in my reply that you quoted:
Hello @Alexander_Hauskrecht ,
I believe you are seeing the issue mentioned in the following thread. Please follow this thread for any updates:
