I'm having trouble with my DAC, speakers, streamer, etc.
I use iPad to control Roon on my Nucleus. Quite often the app freezes and requires a "delete" and reinstall. While this only takes a few minutes it is very annoying. There seems to be no particular thing that causes the "freeze". It may do so in the middle of playing a track or any other action in Roon. Why does it do this and what can be done to stop it?
Hi @Joe_Lazenby,
Thank you for your patience while we worked through the queue. Let us know the date, local time, and track playing the next time this freezing happens and we will enable logs on your account to look into this further. When this freezing happens does your music keep playing?
Yes, the music keeps playing if it was playing when the freeze happened. After stopping play when turning system off it may or may not be frozen on trying to resume. Most times the freezing happens while actively playing tracks and music continues to play. Only know is frozen when trying to change tracks. The date, local time and track playing seem to not be relevant. My brother in law asked this same question two years ago and never received a response. We both experience the freezes as do both my daughters. Thanks for your response.
Had first freeze up tonight 2/24/2024. put on pause to answer phone at roughly 8PM. Tried to resume roughly 8:20 PM. Had to delete and reinstall Roon Remote App. Track was Compositum IV(Instrumental) Leszek Mozdzer
Isn’t this a known issue where IOS puts the app “to sleep” when you try to use any other app while still having Roon Remote active.
Quite often I am listening and go back to Roon Remote to find it dead and cannot stop the music , a restart of the app fixes it . I have never had to resort to a reinstall , except to reduce the amount of Memory consumed.
There are several threads on the subject, I could find if you can’t ?
That sounds plausible but most of the freezes happen while playing music. The music keeps playing but the progress tracker at the bottom is stopped and no amount of “fiddling” with it will reactivate. Must uninstall and reinstall Roon Remote. It almost seems to happen in spells. Sometimes it will freeze several times in a row. Other times several days may elapse before it freezes.
I have been unable to find prior discussions so if you can link me to them I would like to read them.
Sounds like the same symptoms but I find just killing the frozen instance of Roon Remote (swipe off the screen action) and starting a new one fixes it and gets you back to the correct place in the music .
Just in case: it happens to me as well time by time. But I just realized the the it was the iPad disconnecting from the home wifi network. Probably because my wifi is quite weak or for other reasons
The iPad would continue to work on GSM network but it temporarily disconnects from wifi, which causes a freeze.
I have good wi-fi but very well could be that. I have suspected it was the iPad in some way but no idea how to determine that. Have tried to find a way to delete all or a goodly portion of my History to see if that helped but can find no way to delete any, or all, of it. Help anyone?
This along with the other information you provided makes me think that @Mike_O_Neill might be right. There has been an ongoing issue with ARC freezing after switching to another app and then coming back to ARC. Just to confirm are you on the latest production build for Roon?
Hi, Roon plays fine via an iPad but sometimes freezes when choosing a second album or individual track but can be unfrozen by turning off the iPad and restarting, after which Roon plays fine until the next time. This has been happening for some time but because the work around is easy I haven't bothered reporting until now. Hope it's a simple fix. Cheers
Hi @Joe_Lazenby,
I think ARC is having trouble reaching your nucleus. Can you tell us the make and model of the network hardware you are using and how it’s connected?
Hello Joe. It seems that I have exactly the same problem as you and have just reported it to support…

I will stay on this link as hopefully the solution will be the same for both of us. In your chain, I think your problem, like mine, is happening in normal use and not with ARC. Is that right?
