it has brief gaps on TIDAL but plays fine from Qobuz.

Also, what subscription tier of TIDAL being used will affect whether you hear gapless or not. That was certainly the case when I was a TIDAL user.

OK, I’ve now had a chance to use dbPoweramp to convert the local FLAC files into local AAC files, and indeed, playing the AAC version is not gapless - I can hear the transitions between the tracks, just as the AAC TIDAL streams. So that’s my answer, I think. If I want gapless streaming from TIDAL, I have to stump up for the Hifi subscription.
