Holo Audio Red Streamer/DDC

It would fix the issue after the first play.

Hi all,
I’ve had conflicting info on this from the distributors but perhaps someone here can help.

What is the maximum output I can stream through HQPlayer through the Red onto my DAC, via USB?

Does PCM go up to 1.536MHZ? Or just 768KHZ?

Thanks

It can depends on the used OS, but regulary PCM 1536 and DSD1024 is possible with the Red.
Surely the used DAC must support it.

So an update on my use of this. It is running as a NAA at the moment using the Signalyst Red/CM4 operating system. I have no wish to use anything else and indeed have been tempted to buy a second recently simply to give me options with HQPlayer. The Red saw off a brief flirtation with another device and I chose the Red over a nice screen and some convenience.
Today I discovered that the CM4 and CM5 are largely pin compatible so my plan is to try the CM5 lite running 8gb of RAM. It should be quicker and somewhat counter intuitively, cooler.

Red is highly optimized for the CM4 physically it’s not just the pinouts

I have the CM5 but haven’t tried to put it in yet. In fact I have an io board for the CM4 and will try it there before I go near the Red. It’s a bit of fun, and a check to see if the life span of Reds can go beyond the availability of the CM4.

You will of course void your warranty if you have not already opened it up.

Let me ask my Wildism contact see what they say.

I started this thread in November ‘22 and was an early adopter. My warranty is in the distant past! But it will be interesting if they have something negative to say.

Cannot

So not sure why but careful when you try to put it back together as there might be physical damage- I can’t say for sure.

I have the streamer DAC and pramp , but not able to hear sound. I was able to upload Roon and it can play on other devices here is the sound path any suggestions. Previously it only showed Holo Audio one time not twice as shown here

Here is the Red Configuration

I have tried the different modes and I don’t get any sound. Everything is connected correctly

I have two options when selecting Roon playback. The Native Output is for I2S, The USB output is self explanatory. do you have two options? What is your DAC?

The two options should present as two different end points. One will show the Red. If USB is set correct you should see your DAC as the endpoint. I’m not sure why anyone would see the Red presented twice. Are you using the correct USB output or is it behaving like a DDC?

Not sure if USB is it behaving like a DDC . what I am seeing is

an error trying to connect . I am hard wired and using I2s into my Holo Dac

There is no audio zone selected in that image. Is it dropping out when you press play?

Would you please take a screen shot of the Settings / Audio page in Roon and show the Holo Red as well as the Device Settings.

It seems to be playing - I switched out the I2s cable

I’ve been having problems with the latest Red update. USB not working both in Roon or Lyrion. Binned the Holo Red os in favour of ropieee and now all is working.

Do you lose any features doing this.

I have 3 Ropieee devices and it’s a great solution, but I thought Red OS had additional features, though not much use of they don’t work I guess :man_facepalming:t2:
